Still the original speakers, they are old enough to vote. I wondered why they where crappier than normal Scoob items.

When I picked up the car it had VW Indigo Blue LED's fitted in the dash lights. Not to my liking, so it was time to get some OE look stuff fitted and these replacements arrived today.

Well two packets actually as I had sausage fingers.

Lovely.

Default Underneath the arches.

As it's been a day without a proper plan I decided to have a clean of the arches. So, between showers I set too with this collection of products.

So wheels off and a check proves that everything seems in good order so just a quick scrub down with some Surfex HD and some multi-surface cleaner followed by a wash with soapy water.

Inside the lip of the arch. Lovely.

A spray of Dynax and now the fronts.

Liners off.
Before.

After.

Liners on with new clips. I did think of going at it with a wire cup and drill but as the surfaces are so good I left them.

Arches look in good condition! How did you find the dynax? Does it dry clear?

Yes mate it does dry.
I bought the clear film anti-corrosion wax from Opie as they stock the full range of Bilt Hamber products. The only areas I used the Hydrate 80 cure rust where the tie down eyes and a few chips on the front springs.

Blinking flip that car is clean, it must have been 'babied' it's whole life looking at the condition of it.

I know I have said it before but it has to be the bargain of the century.

If you over do it then it does go opaque but a suitable layer stays clear.

That's in amazing condition, great work there!

Is it easy to clean the arches with a degreaser, Surfex and no steam cleaning?

How are the front liners taken off?

Looking good Ian, glad to see people looking after a RA. There are plenty of look-a-likes or ones that have been ruined, its nice to see a impressively clean OEM looking car.

My speakers need replacing the fronts are original 1995 jobbies are in good nick, the rears are fudged after sitting on the shelf in direct sunlight for 19 years.

Depends on which bit mate. The ramps, pit and servicing bay are separated but I can get them too.

Mainly plastic clips, twist types and push pin types. There is a sneakey screw hidden near the top of the front struts. Depending on age, I would Stanley Knife the heads off as they can be so crudded up they won't come apart and they round out as most are Philips head and made of pleastic.

You can get replacements in Halfrauds or OE spec from the internet.

I may need to ask a favour then cap'n!

Need to replace about 60 rusty bolts/washers on the under trays with some nice shiney stainless ones.

So if I could impose on you a some point would be great?

Si

Very impressive Ian those arches are in fantastic condition for sure.

I'll be very interested in what direct replacement front speakers you decide on as that's a job I also need to look at on mine.
