I was watching "ice road truckers" and they had to drive across a frozen lake but they didn't know how thick the ice was. They should have asked the guy underneath videoing the bloody thing as it drove over !
Some of the behind the scenes shows , you get to see the battle between the production team and the workers , so at least they are honest to let you see they are just making it entertaining.

There's some good viewing on Sky at the minute, I like Shipping Wars, Storage Hunters, Pawn Stars, Gold Rush and Ice Pilots, used to really like Dangerous Flights but I haven't seen it since the first season (I think there was a fatal crash during season 2/3).

I was watching shipping wars last night on channel 4, I can't believe Roy died, he was only about 50 or so years old. He had to deliver a horse sculpture made from old car bumpers and an old Royal Mail red post box.

Hardcore pawn is my fav. It's a shame they have to stage stuff though. If you watch the first series they're so much more genuine and sound totally different when they do their piece to camera.
Lizard lick towing is the worst for fakery though. I've seen him get beaten up, blood everywhere then an hour later at the office he's perfect. Saw one where he got shot too and then he was fine. Same with his mate who 'fell asleep at the wheel' and rolled the truck. Another show that'd be quite funny anyway but they have to over stage it.
Shelby the swamp man, that'd also be good if they just followed him but again, show got big and they stage a load of stuff and it just ruins it. The bloke's clearly a nutter but they just have to fake stuff.
Duck dynasty, same as above. All could be good.

Shelby is brilliant, well he was in Axe Men anyway. Like you say it's obviously staged now which is a shame as they have ruined it a bit.

Roy Garber from Shipping Wars died last month. I was watching an ep the other day and at the end it came up in black with his pic 1965-2014... I was like WTF.. thought it was a joke - but alas no.
The 2 bints on that show are worth a poke too, esp the younger one....

The first series which followed Nick Popovich seemed more realistic.
The current show, especially when the guy and his meathead side kick are involved is a joke.
Fast and loud is decent entertainment, flipping cars

Is that the one with the guy that refinishes old gas pumps and cola vending machines? I liked that one too but I haven't seen it on for ages?
American Pickers is watchable too.
And I see they're advertising a new series of New Yankee Workshop, something very calming about watching that.
I actually got sky after staying at my parents' last year for a couple of weeks, I watched endless wheeler dealers, car is born, american chopper, american restoration, storage wars/hunters. Since I've had sky I can honestly say I've not watched anything other than the channels between 520-529.
