with the mileage at 107k, what would be the most suitable oil for it, according to the service records its been ran on mobile 1 5w-40 which is fully synthetic I think?

classic, new age same engine same deal, it's about qrt litre between max and min but would also depend whether engine is warm or not, I did it a couple of days ago so i'm pretty up to speed, but it was warm, it's about half a litre to bottom of the stick give or take, and it depends which way round you have the dip stick too, strange I know but you want the oil can on the dip stick the right way up as you look at it to take an accurate reading.

well my plans at the moment........im going to pay the balance on the car, but at the same time let her know if it wants loads on next mot, then i'll put a fresh ticket on it, probably tax it and move it on. that way she knows my plans, she always wanted it to stay local so she could see it and didn't want a young lad to buy it and wrap it.
if the mot goes well then I might just have all the paintwork done and keep it as I do like it. additionally I have someone off here come to look over it yesterday and with the oil a bit low still sounded quieter than his p1 "his words not mine"

hopefully mot wont be too bad........its only done 16k in the last 3 years

The worst thing that's happened to it since it's been on your drive is you starting it every couple of weeks, (unless you disconnected the crank sensor) and it probably lost the half litre of oil while it's been in your care, you'd have been better not starting it at all or following the oil change procedure of disconnecting the crank sensor and turning it over to build oil pressure then reconnect and fire it up.

The way I see it is you entered into a deal for the car, she left it with you in good faith and now you've had time to reconsider and it's time to cough up your having second thoughts.

I think you should honour end of the bargain and cough up, use it as a life lesson and in future think a little harder before you give your word and a deposit.
This is absolutely the right thing to do. Pay the rest, and if you don't want it, sell it. If someone paid a deposit on a car and I then gave them the benefit of the doubt and they fiddled me I'd be well annoyed. Just because you buy it, doesn't mean you have to drive it...

No way would I pay with my hard earn cash for something I wasn't happy with. If the car isn't that bad then surely it'll sell again quickly and your deposit covers the sellers inconvenience.

well i've paid for the car today, have my green bit of the log book, just waiting on the full log book to arrive. I've also topped the oil up, it only took 500ml, so im happy at that.

its still mot'd til mid april but I think i'll but it through shortly so I know what I have available to spend on paint. its only done 3k since last mot so hopefully shouldn't need much?
