Golf GTI PD 130

Yeah Lambo, it is a great price, it should be, its my business importing cars.
Unfortunately that price ain't available any more as the factory put the prices up for cars built after week 18 (approx. beginning of may) by 4.4% and cars now ordered are approx. 8.9% more than I paid for mine. Still a good price but just not so tempting.
Indeed an import MY2002 4dr WRX now costs me approx. £14,295.00 inc VAT to order which IS good value.

Well, whatever was said I went and bought the Golf anyway! From a main dealer as well - I wanted 130 with sports suspension and 16" wheels and nothing else (tight accountant!) and when I compared places like Motorpoint (for an import) with the local main dealer, the difference wasn't that big (part ex at supermarket was crap and I couldn't be arsed selling it myself - not that tight!, and local dealer gave me a decent discount for early reg of a car in the system).
Car is great - huge power where you want it, refined, economical, well built. It may not have the last edge in handling that Pug had - but then I'm not the last word in driving skill so maybe its better than the Golf is safer. The pug also had huge performance if you worked at it - but frankly, trying to keep the revs over 5000 on the windy roads I take to work was giving me a headache, tiring me out, and costing a fortune (<25mopg at times).
Now where did I put those slippers and the pipe....

I've driven my friends PD 130 in the past and today I drove a PD150 golf.
Lets just say when my P1 sells thats what I'll be buying.
Yes - its no P1 - but insurance/servicing/fuel is a bargin comparied to the 65K of spent on scoobys in the last 3 1/2 years.
Ian.

These guys are in the same office block as us and import a lot of Golfs...

I am in no way connected with them, but from what I can see they seem to take good care of the cars that come into our shared car park.
