Nurburgring crashes 2013
It's amazing how many people that bump on the fast left caught out.
I've thrown my car about like anyone else on here and never had any hint of the back end coming out. You make more time/speed exiting corners quickly than you do going in...
Like riding a motorbike, power through the corner not into it

So an Imp is a good car to get going sideways? I always read/found on tarmac it wasn't.
Maybe it's lack of experience trying to go sideways on lumpy potholed public UK roads???
Maybe you are all right? I am a sh*te driver, who never breaks the speed limit and also idiot who puts people's life in peril because I drive slowly to a car garage thinking a pad has worn down even though it was just a slightly binding caliper piston.
Would a non-stickers VTA-less Micra that I could potter about in make me more accepted in this community? I could take it on my dad's field and get it going sideways to appease you all?

I'm guilty of having the odd blast away from the lights as is everyone but I draw the line at cornering fast, even on a spirited drive on a desolate country road.
The back end of the Impreza is highly unpredictable and if the back does go correcting it only results in a snake.
3 times I've fought with the wheel around roundabouts at speeds well under the speed limit. Once I was guilty on a wet roundabout of jolting the wheel right to induce a bit of oversteer, it didn't end well, wife said "you never had control then did you." I replied "I did." I was telling fibs.
I've fitted a rear roll bar now and the car is far more planted but still no excuse for madness on public roads.

The nearest I got to that was a 180 degree about face at the end of Bedford's 1Km straight after I went 5th to 2nd by mistake, doing well over the ton at the time.
I had to catch my breath after that one

I was very fortunate that there was no trackside furniture to hit, and very lucky that I had a passenger on board who had the incredible presence of mind, while I was trying to straighten the car out, to knock the stick out of gear and saved my engine from a severe screamer.
Can't win with ewe Ovis aries types, I say I never break the limit or corner fast and you're not happy I then claim to have the odd blast from the lights or drive with a suspected worn pad to the local garage and you're on the phone to M15.
Heaven forbid I get a 20" Prodrive sticker to rival my VTA, I'll be lynched.

Local tuner says that I could push 60 MPG If I went down the re-circ route.
As for the lose back end, are your rear tyres badly worn? what geo settings do you have? if any.
A stiffer rear roll bar would make it worse not better, there would be less roll but if it want's to swap ends with a standard one on that roll / warning would become less apparent and it would just let go, probably due to crap tyres/ very greasy road or some serious positive camber on the back, or a combination of all three.
Sounds to me like your feeling the back end roll and then starting to panic, lifting off the gas and adding some ham fisted steering input and making things 10 times worse, so now the reason it feels better after fitting the roll bar is your not getting that initial roll that was causing you to over react.
I suggest you have a good look at your tyres and get a specialist to do a geometry check/set, and a couple of track days with some tuition and a passenger ride or two.
If your from a front wheel drive back ground especially small sporty cars that have a good chassis and tend to flatter ones driving ability, moving to one of these it can be a bit of a surprise when you start to feel the car move in a way your not accustomed to resulting in some over correction which again results in a big fish tail and soggy pants.
Another thing to bare in mind is roundabouts are a good place for wagons and vans to spill diesel especially if there is a petrol station near by.
P.s; for **** sake don't ever get a Type R.

I think he needs maths lessons as well as driving ones too, I for one would love to see evidence of 51mpg from an impreza, I thought I was a mpg god when I got 34mpg out of my blob wagon recently.

Has it worked? dunno, unlike you lot I don't drive dangerously fast on public UK roads. I'm not sure if it induces an unstable rear but the front does seem to have quite a bit of positive camber. \ /
Car is fine on fuel. Light on 3 gallons in, the tank light back on, over 100 miles on the speedo.
The speedo is chronically out mind when I compare it to my GPS speed
I'm claiming my car's rear was a bit skittish on sharp bends not that I made the Kessel run in less than 12 parsecs.
Though I did make Eastenders in Calais in under 4 hours.
The back end issue was 6 years ago, I have new alloys, tyres, geo set up, droppers and arb since.

I never drive dangerously on the road hence recommending a track day and some tuition, road racing is for idiots.
And a rear offside shocker needed replacing not long after. ??

I'd like to think so, I never push the car hard on corners (just from the lights) but I've done a few roundabouts at a brisk pace and it felt good. Not sure if was related but once I floored it from the lights in the wet and the car spun 180 on the spot.
Tuner ha ha ha, who is your tuner? Get his name up so we can ask his advice, Does he drive a Matt black classic wagon with 4 turbo timers and a top roof innnit, I presume he's from Wakefield, lol.
Floored an AWD Impreza from the lights and it spun 180 degrees - what with full lock on?
