Any washing machine guru's on here?

Well I think it's the water in, whether it's the solenoids or the valves one or both, (not sure if they work in tandem or as individuals depending on which wash cycle) as there are two feed pipes for the powder tray on the inside each with it's own valve and solenoid, either way neither of them wants to work which seems a little odd as I type this, as one would have thought that with there being 2 valves and two solenoids they wouldn't both go at the same time,
So I broke the tabs that stop the solenoids rotating when opening the valves and tried to manually rotate them to allow water in and no joy, I did this out of curiosity because when it's off the machine and you rotate them ever so slightly i'm able to get air through them so logically thought i'd be able to get water through and force the machine to at least try and do a wash cycle, but the aperture is quite small and I was a tad in fear of electrocuting myself during the process so either way i'm in need of a new water valve jobbie and my hair isn't frizzy.
Still scratching my head a little though and still not 100% if replacing it's going to solve the problem.

Fill solenoids are generally mains powered. You can check that by seeing what voltage appears at the terminals or by checking the resistance - ohms in the order of several hundred ohms, not tens of ohms.
Being only 5 years old most washers use cold fill only and only use hot fill if available, so the hot fill solenoid gets less use if at all, compare the reading or swap over to see if that cures problem.

you could always try fill the washing machine, through the soap dispenser, by using a bit of old hose (just to see if it will actually wash)
Bare in mind that you may need to drain the machine MANUALLY if the pump doesn't work......!

Well i'm at the point where i'm going to have to put this one in storage and buy the parts when I next visit england because I don't want to buy used parts off ebay and have them be faulty like mine are so going to have to go to "my man" for the bits I need, i'll need to buy another anyway for my apartment i'm making here so unfortunately it's bite the bullet time.
I have seen a bosch machine for just shy of £300 opinions please or any recommendations, out here we have Beko, koncher, bosch, gorenje, candy zanussi and electrolux.

Check pump for continuity - the start circuit is wired through the pump. Check heater for continuity.
If going for Bosch, try and get a German made one. Normally indicated by robert bosch on the label. The cheaper spanish/polish ones aren't so good.
Whats the pnc/prod number label inside door - normally starts with a 9

Well I got sick of messing around so went and bought myself a new one for £280
Bosch classixx 6 2yr warranty, and it says Robert Bosch on the label so hopefully it's a good un.
I'll still fix the Zanussi but I just couldn't face the prospect of another couple of weeks hand washing, this has been going on for 3 months now, not starting a new year scrubbing clothes in the kitchen sink.
Thanks for all the help guys no doubt it's a "to be continued" in a couple of months.
