There's a few options,but I would use a japspeed one.
Japspeeds are £250 and are fine IMO,I ran one at 360bhp and was pleasantly surprised with the quality for such value.and I know of friends running at over 400 and even one at 545bhp and they are coping fine.
Sounds good, why is a Perrin Intercooler £1300 then? I'm assuming a re-map is needed after installation as well? Also who can fit it? So a FMIC or GT Spec Tubular Headers. What would be most wise for gains?

An STI TMIC should be keeping charge temps to within 20deg of ambient, unless the turbo is kicking out a lot more heat than normal.

Good question, I'll find out.

both, the front mount will make it slightly more laggy but a decent set of headers with a harvey smith up-pipe will regain lost spool

japspeed intercooler and headers from alyn@asperformance

Not all set-ups are the same, although a Newage STI TMIC is capable of achieving 400bhp on DD RR's.

Ozne,
Did you specifically ask SC what the expected figure could be based on your set-up and whether any shortfall was specifically down to your TMIC? That TMIC can certainly support the achievement of 400bhp..... however not all engines and set-up always perform the same.

I was told my shortfall was my TMIC due to charge temps.

I initially had an SC38 which kicked out only 340hp, I done a swap for swap with bigger injectors to the SC42 and achieved 370hp. As you said engines and set-ups don't always preform up to what is written on paper. Just a bit of a nuff engine I guess! I'm advised the next step would be a FMIC with a map to get to the 400 mark as more boost can be run.

what does it drive like? im guessing its not that much faster than mine-i would be gutted if i spent money on a 420bhp rated turbo and it only made 370

It's a ballistic road car! Hits 370hp at just over 6.5k rpm, revs all the way through! It's a big difference from when I had 340hp. But I'm caught up on numbers and want the 400 figure, for some strange reason. Some cars just preform better than others, just like all engines in the world.

There is something amiss if your car has failed to even come close to both turbos capabilities.
How clean is your top mount inside? Worth taking off quickly and seeing if there's lots of oil inside.will make a difference if it's not flowing efficiently

It is a good price. remember your top mount is worth around £150 too so for me it's a no brainer to go front mount
