Inho the current logo transfers to car graphics reasonably well.
I receive several spam mails a month offering to redo the website but always pointout how did they find the website and contact me if its that bad

I have to admit JGM he's deffo going in the right direction with this

I am a designer as it happens and they don't do it for me either as I don't think they relate well to the market Simon is in. They look more like an advert for a Pixar movie to be frank!

Hang on a sec, whilst he's blunt he's only expressing an opinon and you don't have to be a designer to express an opinon over a logo etc.

As I said previously, this was only me messing around after seeing JGM's current logo, obviously being a designer I see things a little different I suppose, the things that made me start playing around with ideas where as follows:
The shade of green with white makes for poor readability.
The curves on the logo shape pixelate.
The space at the top/bottom of the shape between the type is a little too close.
The type choice is bad IMO.
The 'J' is a back to front 'C'.
The letter 'M' has very bad kerning.
I'm not trying to slag off JGM's logo, more of an observed critique, it's just what I see.
Keeping with the original logo, something more like this:

I have no BA I am a humble aerospace engineer but if i was to fault his current logo the only thing I would change is the letter m he has a lot of free space on the the length of the logo i would try a E turned 90degrees clock wise to keep the theme of the J. It might just be me for a long time every time I see the origonal logo it triggers my dyslexic brain to look like JCB.

However Fair point... In terms of abilty to reproduce in varing circumstances then your point is valid.
HOWEVER....golden rule for all you business owners out there, that commision a logo,
the question to ask is where is the logo most likely to be seen. That is start point of Corporate ID design
So your print point is a minimal issue here.
So in this instance the corporate ID has to look good on a cars - end off. That is where Simons logo ends up.....that is the start point of a corporate identity for him . web second ect etc
I will now dip out of this thread.

If I had a pound for the amount of times I've created a 'web only' logo for a client for them to come back and say they've had it printed on an 8 x 4ft trade show banner and it looked rubbish, I'd be very rich

I personally think both new designs are much better than the original. The 2nd design which is much clearer is probs the one to go for! Having just spent the best part of £20k developing a website I can appreciate a good designer.....and this guy is a good designer.
