Why would water make a car richer? No extra fuel being added. 50/50 water alchohol mix would change afr, but not water on its own

To be perfectly fair I don't think I have ever seen one running pure water injection, every one I have seen to date has been running screen wash.

We build many WRC/Competition engines

As far as a competition car is concernd the WRC gas ring/o ring setup is the only setup to have.

Comp ratio is a factor but running the correct piston for your application takes care of that factor. Take into account your heads will need to be compatible for the o ring path to be machined otherwise there is alot of further work involved on making the head water passage/oil drain & feed to work.

Spend sometime to think whether is this realy what you will need because as listed above by others, headstuds & quality headgaskets are up to the job depending on what your engine will be used for.

All the best with which way you go.

PS Cometic used to make the gaskets for Cosworth, I don't know who supplies them now, perhaps they are better? Ive not seen any real evidence to say they are though.
Hi there

Friend has run Cometic HG on his 2.1L and 2.0L,both of them blown after several miles(on 2.0L they blown at 4k miles and on 2.1L they blown after 3k miles),on both engines he run 11mm ARP headstuds, both has been based on Open Deck Block

If you are looking at forums you can see rave reviews on them, some guys are happy with them and some have issue with them,on Cosworth HG I've not seen bad review to the date

Not sure if Cometic has made for Cosworth those HG,but if then,Cometic using on their own HG different material(cheaper?)

I've run on both engines only Cosworth HG and I've been very happy with them, same liek we are used only OE Subaru seals, yes you can buy cheaper Cometic seal kit,but again I would stay from them

Have run only pure Water on drag strip and I've seen drops in temperature when we are used only water, with water methanol we are got similar results

On Dyno difference has been just negligible between running Water with V-Power/T99,yes with running Water methanol mix and T99/V-Power gains are there as above I've posted

There has been no difference in AFR when we run only water with T99/V-Power

One of the main factors with water only is increased safety! Reduction of combustion and egt's, less likely to knock too, for the sake of a few litres of water every now and again I think it's well worth it.
