Ditto that Phill
And dosenöffner, I will post on here when something sees me off. Why? Because it will be hats off to a serious set of wheels as Phill says
I love me Scooby. But if someone wants to swap it for a new 911 Turbo, then that's fine with me!

I'll start shall I,
My VR6 was beaten off the mark by an Escort cossie with a loud exhaust, going off to box hill, still once moving he could not lose me. Sounded great, I followed a few enthuasticaly driven scoobs about as well and what can i say THAT exhaust note, oh yeah !
Nout so nice this side of a TVR !!

I've been behind a 993 GT2 while waiting for a lorry to pull in. Once the road was clear we both floored it and he pissed off like nothing I have ever seen since.
I gave up at 130mph (obviously in Germany)at which point I couldn't see him!!!!
I knew I didn't have a hope of catching him but I just wanted to see him go, and by heck did he go!

I remember well the day I was duelling with the missus she was in our 200sx and I was in our modified 2.8 Capri.
We were having a whale of a time on a fast private road overtaking everything (Capri could keep up with Nissan but had crap brakes) when out of the blue in my rear view mirror appeared a 3 door Sierra Cossie in full race colours, roll cage, extinguishers.
I could see this was going to be no contest so I didnt really bother trying to take him on. Anyway we were doing 85 ish and he overtook us like we were going backwards complete with flames and popping silencer and then disappeared like a bullet into the distance. Awesome to behold.

i had a 911 and now own a scoob. In a straight line the porsche was faster and round the twisty bits the scoob is much better.
had great fun with both cars but they are different
if you need to try and beat off a porsche i would suggest it's a bit of a dick thing .....

Personally I quite enjoy taking on other cars. Provided both drivers are responsible and dont really race whats the problem.
Trouble is these days living in yokelville the fastest traffic I meet is the local haywagon.
These Porsche drivers always twist everything round to talk of small genitals.........wonder why

You guys all need to come to the Nurburgring...
great fun dusting porkers in an A3 hire car....
or even dusting a Maserati and an Aston on the same corner in a 21-year old souped-up Fiesta... in front of spectators...
and no innocent bystanders or Gatsos...
Owain.

Agree with Owain, come to the Ring if you want a laugh! Its amazing what might overtake you there.
Given the choice, I think I'd rather have the C4s than a Scoob.
Edited to ask, are you a valeter?

forget 0-60 times. 60-120 that 911 would be v.quick. Remember it's 12 yrs old, maybe 100k+ and the driver probably doesn't like redlining it against another very quick car with his G/f on board.
Raced a local aston V12 vantage in my 02WRXppp recently. I'd been dying to do this just to see how badly I got blown off. Kept up with him from 50-100. He gave me a distainful look in the mirror.
Thing is he probably felt like we do when nova-man tries it on...It's not worth the bother.
Also raced a 300hp newish 911 recently, got totally left for dust.
Makes me understand why the max power lads have a go, sometimes it's fun to be really totally blown off...

to quote
"There is nothing wrong with opening the car up. It is the public braggin about racing that is out of order. Perhaps he had more sense, bearing in mind he had his girlfriend with him. Perhaps her safety (and his license|) comes before his *****. It was not until I got a 911 that I realised you don't actually have to race people to prove the size of your trouser snake.
Very sad."
hahah OOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO how scoobynet...
been off this site for about 9 months whilst ive been traveling the world, thot id stick my head in to see what was what

To put this in perspective a bit......If a guy was to come in here and post "I just wasted a P1/STI/WRX in my tuned escort/cossie/calibra" etc then we know the answer from about 10 squillion people would be "ahhhh but wait until you got to the twisty bits" (Yawn, is anyone else bored of that reply now?)
Now if we were to go to a Porsche forum and say "I just wasted a Carrera in my tuned Scoob" then the answer would be pretty much the same except substitute 'twisty bits' (I'm sure a lot of drivers of older porsche would admit that a new scoob would take them through the corners as well as straights) for "driver involvement, steering feel, engine note, throttle response, handling adjustability, build quality, reliability, respect, image etc...
A lot of 911 drivers would not care if a scoob/evo/sunny/cossie 'wasted' them because they care about and love their cars for the reasons above (among others). Just like if a scoob owner was 'wasted' by a Courtneay Nova or 400BHP cossie....most wouldnt be bothered because they see their scoob as so much better as an all round package.

God - why do we have Scoob's?????????? I am not slagging off any other cars - Porsche's or whatever.
I had fun in my car the other day. It has nothing to do with the size of my *****.
OK

I can't believe no-one's mentioned the design flaw that the Porsche suffers from, that being the engine sitting over the rear wheels.....
Handling is so bad, that they make shopping trolleys look like they run on rails, even 4WD versions were hillarious to watch at Rallycross and the like (kept on wanting to go round in circles they were so tail happy).

911's only want to go around in circles if you make the mistake of lifting off in a corner. I only had a few sideways moments in mine because I drove it properly. Thank you Mr Elford and Mr Bell.
I had a 1999 B4 (in gold). I thought it was a great car. The delivery of the power was incredibley smooth compared to the RA before. The initial turbo made it feel slow as there was no kick in the pants but the ground you could cover in small amounts of time in complete comfort was surprising. Depends what you are after really. I prefer a more buttock clenching ride.
Edited to add that the suspension on the B4 is designed by Porsche. Now which is better? A Subaru or a Porsche? Or is that a Subche or Porsaru?

They are. Wait for the new water cooled engines from Porsche
There is nothing wrong with the position of the engine in a Porsche provided you know how to drive.
Next you will be asking for a mid-mount Subaru.

I dusted a Scoob today today in my mums punto. He must have been trying, cos you should have seen the look on his face when I under took him in the left hand lane of the motorway at 75mph
Snnnnnnnnnooooooooooooooooooozzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz
We all know that my car is by far the fastest on the planet ............so there, btw I've even learned to drive now.

A porker handles well in spite of its engine/gearbox layout, not because of it. It's had 30+ years of development to work around the duff configuration, which (let's face it) was only used because it gave Ferry Porsche (and his dad) a hard-on. For the Porsches (jr. and sr.), it's just automotive masturbation.

Mmmmm - lots of experts - Porsches have unbelieveable traction - even compared to a Scoob - a well driven Pork will give many a Scoob a run for its money.
HOWEVER - there are very few Porks that are well driven - they are mostly driven by people with money - not talent - and to drive a Pork takes a lot more talent than to drive a Scoob - face facts guys!
Anyway - am off to race lots of Porks and Ferris' at the weekend - bring 'em on.....
.....and before anyone gives me a hard time it will be in appropriate circumstances as it will be on track.
Am taking the video - so will post an MPEG of a lap (obviously I will pick a lap when all the Porks and Ferris' are cooling down so it will make me look really fast!)
