10yrs isn't a bad sentence, normal murder starts off with a minimum 15yrs I suppose so he's been given a 5yr reduction already, it just could have been better, that's all

You are repeatedly simplifying both of those points to suit your own agenda though. You are refusing to look at a) the way the comparison was made and why it was made and b) that no one has actually said murder is murder regardless of the circumstances.

You also claim that to have a proper view on it you have to have been there and done it yet on this thread alone we have one person who has been there and done it and says the sentence whilst harsh is right, another poster with two military family members both of whom agree with the sentence, his commanding officer and the military court yet for some reason you seem to imply their opinion doesn;t matter either.

What you really mean is they have to agree with you for their view to matter!

 

My view was that he should have been jailed for 5yrs, not 10, but we have already been over that one. Either way, 10 is better than the 15 that the courts would have given any other murderer so I can't be too pis*ed at the sentence.

Other than that, this thread is going around in circles. The majority thought the sentence was harsh, the marine has a lot of public support, he will be fine. All very well and good, everyone is entitled to their opinion, it's not going to change anything though.

I can only assume you mean the poster Trout and his stickered GT3RS but we were chums and there was certainly no anonymosity in our postings only banter about TTRS vs GT3RS debates and races? Trout used to love all my acceleration vids, vbox charts and 1/4m timeslips, I don't see him as an 'enemy' and he wouldn't see me as one so not quite sure where you are going, what you're getting at or why a car racing debate is relevant to this one?

Still confused about the laughing stock part nor the ousting part (Did I go missing?) Tail between the legs? Why? Where is Trout these days, not seen him around since then? Why would posts about TTRS vs GT3RS lose me credibility in postings about jailed marines?

is it not obvious to everybody that this soldier has been sent to prison purely for the sake of "keeping up appearances".

he has been sacrificed by his own employers and the government, its not to appease anybody, its just to cause outrage and animosity.

Also people are very hypocritical in this part of scoobynet. Certain members continiously try to hide their racism and use any argument to twist/distort the truth to fit in with their own prejudices, if truth were to smack them in the face they would still say its a lie.

What do these idiots expect when they do this and then accuse other races of not being true brits? What is that they want? Subservience and then to still say go back to your own country etc?? Even if other groups were to become subservient there woud be another argument to justify thinly disguised racism.

If you continuously criticise and insult a person how can you then expect total loyalty, and then get pissed off if that same person then gives you the middle finger?
