Having seen this car when I picked up some parts from Nick, if I had £8000 and was looking for a newage jdm I would be on my way there now! Must resist borrowing any money

Good luck again and can't see it hanging around at this price.

Its a shame that you're selling up after spending so much on getting her running how you wanted. Even more of a shame that I haven't got the cash to take it off your hands.

GLWTS.

It isn't set up how I want it yet, the coilovers would have to go for it to come close. Compared to normal sports suspension on the S3 and the Cupra, and the PSS9 setup on the 6, these are just too lively and harsh for me.

The other half is adamant that the clutch pedal is too hard for her, despite really not being much harder than a normal clutch pedal (Her S3 one is pillow-soft, feels like pressing jello) so she won't drive the Scoob either

As the ad says, the DCCD still pops in to error mode sometimes and as I haven't been driving the car and sadly have lost faith in my guys that used to do all the work on my scoobs over this DCCD issue, I haven't investigated it further or taken it anywhere.

The niggle with the DCCD only came up when the clutch was changed, therefore that tells me something went awry during the clutch change.

I came back in to Scoob ownership with rose-tinted glasses on and have paid the price. I am at the age now where I want Über-speed and refinement, the cars I had between the first batch of Scoobs growing up and now, spoiled me sadly. I can cope without the handling on rails but who knows if the itch will come along again.....

Truth be told, I think I can't be bothered with fully manual gearboxes anymore!

I've been in a few mates cars with coils ears and they are quite firm, even with a softish spring. I prefer my prodrive springs.

I must admit I only skim read the advert and missed the dccd problem, I can see why you're selling up, it's one thing after another.

I hope it hasn't put you off the marque completely as they as very different cars but having an RS6 is enough to convince anyone that they don't want a proper clutch anymore .

I was looking at this when Matt (?) was selling it but couldn't shift my car on in time so missed out. I'll keep my eyes peeled if you do px it.

If I get the time tomorrow I am going to pop down to see Stu at TFS and see if he wants to have a crack at the DCCD. I never got around to cleaning the wiring etc, just cable tidied it a bit as bending over the car absolutely killed my back.

I will be beyond peeved if I have to fork out more money again for someone else's mistake but despite various people saying that the DCCD bugs are normally trivial, sod's law says that won't be my luck....

I think for the price and a few niggles left should be a steal for someone who wants to do the finishing touches and they would have a nice car IMO.

Sorry guys, just got back in from an afternoon out with madam. There was a local guy that was interested as of this morning but he seems to have bowed out for now as he still has a scoob that would need to sell first or something.

I honestly an not in a rush but I would like the car gone before the end of the month as house sale will complete before that and the race will be on to get on with buying, not having the flaff of selling cars too etc.

Paperwork has been sent off to get the normal plate put back on so if I am veeeeery lucky the old plate and V5 will be back by the weekend (will need a loooot of luck for that though).

I will be taking the car to Stu tomorrow if he is there, to get his valued input. I should have gone there first tbh but I went with my gut, which was my previous tuners (who in all fairness, had never put a foot wrong)

Cheers,

Nick.

Thanks . After having a couple of long chats with a nice guy this evening, I have my first viewing either on Saturday or Sunday. If there is any interest from others between now and then, great, but, any viewing would have to be booked for after him.

Thanks,

Nick.

WOOHOO! A big thanks to Stewart at TFS Racing for making the time to have a look at the DCCD wiring today.

He gave me no assurances whatsoever as it isn't his area but agreed to just unplug, clean the connectors, put it all back together/have a look around and see how it goes.

Drove the car back to work, 15 mins driving, no error, ran in auto mode all the way back, including some swift changing of direction trying to break it towards the end.

Drove the car home from the office, 10 mins driving, no error.

Took her out tonight for a decent 25 min run and after she had warmed up, I attacked some country roads I know well, then a blat down the Dual Carriageway before cooling down coming home. No error .

Compared to before today, where the error would come up pretty well guaranteed every trip, great result touchwood.

To me, this says that it is the loom wiring above the gearbox/behind the engine and if it goes again, there isn't actually that much wiring to consider yanking and rewiring .

He also cleaned out the Idle Control Valve and she is now idling perfectly and doing exactly what Simon's map tells it to do with the idle.

Will give her another long run tomorrow before the viewing on Sunday and report back.

Cheers,

Nick.

****. Bad news and sort of good news I think. Took the car for a 4th spin today and to put fuel in her. Diff sat happily on auto throughout (25 min or so run) all the way until I turned off.

Washed the car and as it is in madam's interest too that I sell the car, I got her to help. Pressure washed her down, snow foamed her and was in the middle of washing the foam off when I had to take a call. Madam offered to wash down the front off the car, big mistake.

She wasn't aware that she should not actively go spraying water in to the scoop area when there is nothing but a gaping hole there (she had no idea what was under the bonnet in all fairness), directly above the gearbox/diff wiring.....

Anyhoo, finished cleaning the car and took her for a run to dry her off, diff was on auto but went to error after about a mile..... Turned car off, turned back on and switched the dif to manual, max rear drive.

It held up, for 30 mins in manual mode, enough to drive all the way over to my folks in Frimley and back again.

I am more certain then ever now that it is a basic wiring gremlin in the cables above the gearbox based on what happened today. The viewer tomorrow has already been advised.

It sounds like something minor Nick. I'm surprised S4U have washed their hands of it given the money they've had off you.

Thanks

THE CAR IS SOLD GUYS. Sold to a lovely chap called Ray for the asking price. The diff worked in auto for the entire test drive and happily swapped between auto and manual when asked. If it holds up then great, if it doesn't, we all have a pretty good idea of where the fault lies.

Thanks,

Nick .

I honestly don't know. I think one day if a truly mint condition classic came up that was heavily uprated in the power department but had decent non-coilover suspension etc came around and I was in the market then yes.

The tax on 2006-onwards is way to much compared to many other cars out that with a lot more power.

Once house move is complete I am still looking at a Cayenne Turbo S or possibly slumming it with a V10 Touareg for madam as a treat
