Question

Just been on to my insurers, Norwich Union and they say the would not cover a PPP, ok with the exhaust and inlet hoses but not the ECU......Where could I get a quote for a PPP on an MY99 turbo????

Thanks for that, it's really appreciated honest What you've mentioned sounds about right,

1) I had (until a fortnight ago) a pending claim - they have finally admitted to it being his fault - and have refunded my uninsured losses, but I suspect are not in receipt of the actual wonga from his insurer

2) Yep I'm not direct, its through a broker. Sounds like if I push it (ie make them phone AXA) I might at least be able to get a figure.

But, insuring a Group 19? car at 25, 2xNCB and 8 points on license could just be too expensive anyway. Ho hum.

Question

£1700...thats better

My insurers (Bell Direct) will not insure my MY99 with a PPP though

Any recommendations for a PPP friendly insurer

I thought the PPP also included a catless centre box.....

Pete

I'm insured through Adrian Flux, adding a PPP on my RB5 adds £40 on my premium till mid June so roughly £160 for the year.
Try em 08700 692202

Peter,

Nope, people are interested.

I'm busily collecting names, so far I have 5 yes', 2 maybe coming back to me in the next 2 days, 1 MY98 owner waiting to see if we can a deal for him, you and Jim waiting for insurance info, Marty S and Jason H thinking about it.

So we are almost there!

Marty S : are you still up for this? If so can you drop me an email?

I am interested, but need to check with my insurers, and also work out if it will be worth the 6.5 hour drive to get down to prodrive.

Actually, come to think of it, the petrol alone would just about bring the cost back up to retail ... d'oh.

I am also assuming that this would have to be done on a weekday ?

Andrew,

Wether you get it through a local dealer or drive it yourself your are going to have to get it to Prodrive, so that cost is going to have to be added to whatever a local dealer will charge vs the group deal.

Go for it!

A few points to bear in mind...

I managed to haggle the price of PPP down to £1800 when I had mine done including it being taken to Banbury for me. I did this by ringing around a lot...the dealer swore me to secrecy re who they are tho...

Prodrive will probably want the car for a couple of days, remember the standard price of 2k should include taking your car to Banbury and back, if you end up having to take 2 days off work and staying up in Banbury you might want to take that into account.

If you decide to go for it, remember to have pure SUL swishing around in your tank, and you will need both set of keys/alarm remotes, as Prodrive will need to reset them.

Finally, I am insured thru Direct Line who charged me an extra £12 for the PPP (although they didn't have a clue what it was), remember to stress it is a Subaru approved fit.

Hope this helps, and you enjoy your PPP as much as I do if you decide to go for it.

Cheers

Simon

Are you sure that is SUL only? I though UL was fine. Also I'm not sure the car is needed for more that 1/2 a day at Prodrive.

Yes the PPP will run on UL with no problems but as I understand it is set up to run optimally on SUL, so to get the most out of the car's time at Prodrive it's best to have SUL in the tank.

Or at least that's what I was told

Cheers

Simon

I'm definitely interested - lpro, please send me any further info (who, where, when etc). I'm not too far from Prodrive, and £300 buys a lot of beer
Insurance is due in about 6 weeks too, so hopefully no problems there.

GaryF: Haven't seen you for ages! I'm also with AXA, and while they were happy(ish) to cover a PIAA driving lamp conversion, they won't touch the PPP.

Andy.

ps. I haven't posted for a while, and have just had to re-register. Did I miss something?

Question

This thread seems to have gone awfully quiet - is this group buy going ahead or what?

I'm no use here as (if I do it) I'll be getting the 'fit it yourself' option - I've run out of warranty after all. Anyway, give me a demo of the PPP if you get it done

Ps Done any track days yet ? and are you going to Castle Coombe on the ?th (Rally Supercar day)

Just to let you know this is still going ahead if anyone is interested. The slowdown is due to me being in Australia on hols and lpro having to sort some work out.

Greg: hope you're enjoying your holiday. As I peer past the heaps of work at the gloom outside the office window, I'm deeply jealous

I definitely want to go ahead; how many others do we have now? Do we have confirmation that there's enough of us to qualify for the discount?

Andy,

I think we had around 10 confirmed or close to confirmed, up to Lpro's dealer if he wants to go ahead with that number. Will let you know.

Can you email me your contact info for when I get back.

It's only 28 degrees here today

Chaps
I'm not ready to make a firm decision either way at the moment. There are several reasons for this (Monster tax bill, impending marriage, wanting to see the sp. ed. wrx, and test drive an EVO VI not withstanding).

If I was able to commit at this time I probably would not want to go ahead before end of August.

Regarding insurance - PPP is going on the car on Tuesday, so called Barclays (aka Privilege) to tell them about it - and had no increase in premium! I already had a "engine power up by 0-10%" bit on there, which costs me a measly £50 a year

Barclays we love you... unlimited hi-fi cover, free track day insurance, and now this... can they get any better?!

ps not associated with Barclays in any way.. etc etc etc

Unhappy

Sorry guys, I'm going to have to pull out of this.
Unexpected household expenditure, Sony Widescreen TV.
Hope it all goes OK for those that go ahead with it.

The PPP is £2k+ (at least the old one was!) whereas Petes exhaust is £800ish fitted. Check that the company lets you modify - id bet 5$ they wont like it!!!

You get a new ecu, exhaust bits and intercooler piping (doesnt sound much for £2k!!)
