Not everyone has the option of a jdm one as they arnt exactly common ,, normaly cost more and if not over priced are normaly private sales ,,,, all these things were the reasons I had to go for a uk car

Running a 2.5 Hawk with 334/381 at 60K miles now, no issues at all.

My advice would be to get the standard car mapped to get rid of the standard (useless ons size fits all) factory map that probably isn't doing the car any good. Then forget problems and drive. The torque of the 2.5 makes for a lovely drive.

My hawk wrx is running 291/371 no running issues. Planning to squeeze abit more after bigger turbo. Got supported mods sorted so be fun after it's second remap.

Yes, the factory map probably isn't helping.
But, map and forget is a foolish think to say.
I know of two examples of Hawk STI that have had problems in later life, even after a custom map by a very respectable mapper.

Thats the luck of the draw I guess with the 2.5 engine. Even without toughing it there can be failures, but in my mind to re-map it will get rid of one problem easily and if the engine lets go later down the line then deal with it with a forged rebuild. No point spending hand over fist on rebuilding a working engine in my mind.

Have has tens of thousdands of fun miles on my std lump so far. Expecting it to go at some point, but just enjoying it now!

But its probably cheaper to forge a healthy engine, rather than one that's shat itself

It's even cheaper still not to re-build an engine if you don't need to!

p.s. Don't get me wrong, your comment above are the exact words I will be using on the wife when trying to pursuade her WE need a forged 2.5 in MY car!

Having a look online today and saw a forged one for sale here http://www.pistonheads.com/classifie...d--fsh/1780408 Reg plate is blanked out so cant even ask on here if its previous owner was on here. Pretty adamant about sticking with the uk car just suits me more. I know the car in the link is from a dealership and will probably be a bit overpriced but im looking to p/x my car just now to save me the hastle of having to sell it then wait potentially months for the right one to come along again.

Nice car but has to be blue or white and I know my chances of finding a white uk are pretty low haha. I would still need to sell my current car first too which is why I'd rather p/x for much less hastle.

Find the reg number & I will confirm if it has had one of my forged builds, someone else thought they had had one of mine when infact it had not.
