id price up your build costs before making a decision so if you sell your car you are 3500 short of an sti.

a six speed box,sti engine and full set of brembos will cost that and added to the fact when you sell an sti its worth more than a wrx conversion.

STI engine with AVCS = Found one for approx £1000
STI engine without AVCS = £600
STI 6box = £1500
Brembos (already have)
ECU for avcs = £1000?

Other things like the SC40/42, injectors, fmic I would do even if I had an STI.

I like projects and would rather spend £5000 on my WRX than sell it for little and buy an STI for £7000, then still spend on the turbo, injectors etc.

Each to their own mate but I appreciate your opinion.

What ever floats your boat mate, it is a longer and more expensive route, but you do already have the car...

Even look for the hawk 5sp as i beleive they are alot stronger, Ive seen them ran at 500+ albeit it they dont last as long as the 6's

yoo hoo tubs,,, dont start the old wrx vs sti argument again as soon as you start talking about modding thee's no point whatso ever in spend 3 grand more for parts that you will skip anyway,,, lol

anyway, all joking aside, you wont need the 2.5 pinned for 450 ish, rods pistons, studs and away you go.

the engine in this one is a test engine thats 4 years old and be thrashed, mapped hundreds of time, had a list of parts tested on it about 6 foot long, yet still fine and was a daily drive,

If you can my advice would be drive a 2.5 and drive a 2.0, they are very different drivers as far as engine goes, 2.5 is much more low down grunt, where as the 2.0 takes more reving to get it going and wind up the turbo. A 2.0 at 450 will be laggier than 2.5 at 450. 2.0 will prob be lower or equal torque to bhp, 2.5 will be higher torque than bhp so comes in lower down.

my current 2.5 outspools my old 2.0 even though it has 60bhp more with plenty mroe still to come

Yes but it sounds like a lot more money getting a 2.5 and getting new rods, pistons etc fitted...

Okay think I have come to my decision..

Newage sti block with avcs heads - £1000
Sti inlet manifold - £100 - £150
800cc injectors £500
Sc42 turbo - £1500
Fmic - £350
Forced cold air induction (Already have)
6speed box - £1500
Appropriate ecu and remap £1500
Brembo brakes (Already have)
Suspension - £700

I would also set aside £1000 for extras like new plugs, waterpump, cambelt kit etc.

Hoping to get around £1500 from my engine, turbo, injectors, ecu, gearbox scrap, sti top mount intercooler, wrx inlet manifold

With that set up Im hoping for around 400-450bhp and a good amount of torque?

All second hand but the turbo, injectors, fmic, plugs, cambelt kit etc. will be new. Unsure on the ecu.

Actually the prices for the turbo, injectors and fmic are what I've found new.. if I can find it much cheaper second hand may go for that option instead.
