I've just noticed it has the wrong back bumper on it too, a standard WRX one rather than the wide body one....

if that doesnt point to accident damage nothing will.

says a lot about the repairer that they couldnt be arsed to fit the correct bumper.

thats got to be one of the best bodges ive seen in ages

It's very strange how things work out. After speaking to a very nice chap yesterday who went to see this car, it has come to my attention who they are. Cut a long story short they tried to sell me a right lemon (accident repaired evo 9 which was hpi clear) a few years back. When posting i did not realise this and glad i bought this topic up now.

Does anyone have the registration so we can give it the appropriate publicity such a fine machine clearly deserves?

The bonnet is also painted it should be a duller blue on the underside same as strut towers and bonnet hinges, anyone that has had a original painted Subaru would spot this.

Heavens! I wonder if the new owner will find their way onto here asking about it. We'll have to be gentle with them.

One thing that occurred to me last night. As it's a JDM car, I wonder if its accident happened and all the subsequent bodging was done in Japan before it was imported in 2010, so it wouldn't (I assume?) be recorded by HPi?

But then I wouldn't have much confidence in the importer for failing (?) to spot it.

Mind you, I wouldn't have much confidence in any car business that got associated with this (op apart, of course !)

It would be interesting to know if the new owner has spotted any of the previously damaged areas and whether the trader made him aware of what he was buying.

Well it's getting near that time of year, so perhaps Marley's ghost will go wandering on to a forecourt somewhere in Staffs and turn a heart of stone into one of compassion.
