Got to be honest.... this phone is a proper step up from the 4 (which you would hope over a 2yr old device) and I'm really impressed by how it just all works very slickly (such a word!?) - it's extremely quick - and in such a tactile and beautiful way. The overall design and quality is second to none imo. It's "typical" Apple..... in this context, for the right reasons.

Well the battery life of the iPhone 5 with iOS 7 is diabolical, turned off app updates, location settings and notifications. Only used it for web surfing, FB and checking emails, 100% this morning, flat by 7pm!! The iPhone 4 (6.1.2) was massively better. DO NOT UPGRADE TO iOS 7!

Looking at all the information about the new OS.
The only new feature to kill batteries is the one that automatically refreshes the open apps and pages.
You can turn it off, and be no worse off or double click the main button and shut down the apps that you have not used in ages.

tried this
1. Turn on USB power
2. Plug in lightning cable to iPhone
3. Dismiss any warnings
4. Unlock your iPhone.
5. Dismiss any remaining warnings.
6. Now with the screen turned on.
7. Unplug the knock off lightning cable.
8. Plug it back in.
9. Dismiss warning again
10. It should now charge.

Just plug it in to any micro usb charger
Usage 1 hour 40mins
Standby 10 hours 48mins
Battery 72%
Standby is not too bad, but as soon as I start using apps, it drains fairly quickly just reading a downloaded newspaper on my commute into work used 20%. If I watch a video or play a game, it's pretty much 1% per couple of minutes.
Did a DFU reset and performed two battery recalibration, battery life is still pants! The iPhone 4 is way better on the old OS. May have to get shot of the 5 sooner than planned, but can't justify spending £300+ on a new phone, HTC One's are still over £450+.
I've been out of the country for 6 weeks. Anyhow, with iOS7 working fantastically on my 4S I think I might buy a new iMac instead. I feel sorry for Android users, the manufacturers could do a much better job of supporting older devices, but I guess they're more concerned with getting you to upgrade all the time.

My daughter is apple mad and normally wants to get the latest apple device but has said that she is not interested in the 5s over her 5 model. She said there is nothing worthwhile in looks or features to make it a want item, same old same old offering. She now is complaining since ios 7 that when she uses iTunes her phone keeping either locking up or crashes, battery life is terrible.

My 5s is now "just" a phone again, in the context that it has fitted straight in to it's expected daily tasks. That to me is the biggest compliment and recommendation I can give.
Absolutely. But, people like Andyroid and his ilk fail to recognise that, throw some bigger numbers in there and some crappy software for eye tracking and he'll upgrade in a flash.
Yes, at least they're deemed worthwhile, where as numbers like 64bit, iOS7, finger print reader and fancier camera, etc still isn't enough the entice a hardcore iPhan like yourself to upgrade to a 5s, despite saying you would prior to its release. To me That speaks volumes about the worthiness if the latest iPhones.

You're seriously like a bunch of spotty faced kids in the school yard!
You're all so insecure you have to keep bitching with each other over poxy phones. Unbelievable.

Who says I won't? I said I might get a new iMac first. My current iMac is from early 2006, it's still a fantastic machine, way better than a new PC in many ways, people on here said I was nuts paying £1000 for it back then, since that time they've most likely had 3 ****ty PC's at a much greater cost. You PC using Fandroids just don't look at the big picture.
You crack on being suckered into buying new hardware because of a software feature and a bigger processor that no app can take advantage of, it's your money.
