yes, got the end nut off, so the shaft is out, but the assembly of gears (inc first) is held together by a bloody big nut that i didnt notice at first, had to rush it at work yesterday

thing is, i want to keep the other gears and synchro rings as they are mint.....so that nut will have to come off, but theres no way of holding the gears

i insist on paying you something for it (the checks in the mail ), and if you wanted to sell us the 1st & 2nd syncro rings i'd be v. grateful, if not, don't worry about it

i've got past the 2nd nut quite easily, now it get interesting, the cogs appear to be pressed on tried heating it up for ages but it's not going anywere

if you get this aswell, it's going to be more hassle than it's worth to you, if you send us the whole lot down (at my expence) i'll take both mine and yours somewhere to have them removed then send you all the unused bits back (with payment)

the syncro on 1st & 2nd has been shot for almost a year now, seems a shame not to do anything about it while the gearbox is in bits

kev (or should that be )

mail me your address mate, ill send the shaft.

just thinking, if you just pull the cogs off yours, and slide them on my shaft (complete with first gear still pressed on)?
that way, you shouldnt need to budge the first gears at all should you?

you can have the synchros no probs, they look new, and worked perfect.

mail me your address off line mate (e-mail in profile) and ill send it tomorrow lunch first class

cheers, ian.

p.s. that nut is still on, had to faff with my car today

kev, ive sent the stuff this morning mate

sent the shaft with the gears still on (as i couldnt budge them), so pick and choose what you fit on yours

like i said, best to just slide your gears onto the shaft, and use that one instead.

cheers

still waiting for the parts to turn up, but so far taking the gearbox apart has been quite easy, getting the gears off the shaft isn't that easy taking it somewhere to have it done

the gearbox off the car is the hardest part

Thumbs up

if you try townend garage, they've got someone there who repairs gearboxes and will sell you the bits if you want to do it yourself (meant to have 30-40 gearboxes in various bits lying around )

Doh.. Ive just ordered them.... I am getting 1st / 2nd.. as it crunches on fast changes... probably find other damage whilst its in bits... also has oil leak that needs sorting..... getting syncro and gaskets for about 30 less my discount from the dealership..

was it sent via parcel force or was it standard mail (i.e. stamps) i'm guessing there's no way of tracking it
