Seriously though, a bar of boost and a TD04, not exactly stretching the gaskets is it 
I don't know of any standard well maintained Hawk WRX that's shat itself.
It's like jumping out of bed after a long lay in and being impressed your legs didn't break
Strap a VF43 to it and report back

Where have I said your 2.5 engine has anything wrong with it ? All I am saying is the TD04 and a bar of boost isn't exactly testing it to destruction is it. So not really something to get all glib about

My take is thus. The 2.5 was never designed to be turbocharged as Subaru originally used it for the USDM in normally aspirated form. The decision to use it in turbocharged form was erroneous without further strengthening which Subaru didn't do. What's even more stupid is the fact they used the same bottom end in both WRX and STI. Common sense dictated that it was only going to end badly for Subaru. Then again Subaru have a track record for such blunders. These include styling gaffs to unfinished cars (P1). Thankfully they managed to get some models right.

P.S. well done on the achievement.
My Aerodeck is 14 years old and only done 95.000 genuine miles, previous owners were manic about pampering it, then there was me with my lead foot I won't need to tell the world when it reaches the big 100,000 because it's the norm for a Honda.
My WRX reached that mileage without a fuss, but it was a Classic, again expected of it.

After many months of fun motoring in my 55 plate WRX 2.5 that dreaded day has finally come
The evidence:-
2.5 ltr hawkeye
55 plate
Chocolate ring lands
Weak head gaskets
Daily driver doing 100 miles a day
I have known this day would always come and it was just a matter of time
On my way home this happened about 8 miles from work on the A1 the below happened
So no it has not popped yet

Its people like you that are ruining this forum. There are hundreds , if not thousands of posts telling us that these engines will go pop, and then you lot come along with your "evidence " to prove so many people wrong.
You should be ashamed of yourselves, nobody wants to hear that these engines have tons of torque are brutally fast and last at least as long as any other motor on the road.

Paben ..... your not wrong! My last car before scoobs was a 900 carlsson. 250bhp on a 2litre and was at 220k on origional block, turbo and clutch!

^^^ yep totally light hearted...lol and knew exactly the sort of answers i would get, but hey this is just a forum ..... not a life changer.. I have bigger things in my life than an engine to worry about

My 2005 plate 2.5XT forester has done 87000 and still sounds and pulls as strongly as ever. Definitely still got all 236 torques! Owned for 47k hard miles and still on original clutch too.
Finger crossed for another 40k trouble free miles...I wish!
