But the watch only alerts you of things that are happening on your phone and funnily enough I can actually look at my phone when I hear it ring etc as I don't need a 3rd party to tell me I have a txt.
Your right people from Apple probably would buy them as they would buy anything if they marketed it

Further development alongside various apps will see the watches being capable of a lot more. Already developers working on the Pebble have released much more than the basic retail product.

On the subject of the watch itself it looks interesting, but let's wait for Apple's offering to see how it is when it's done properly!

As for a cheap Smartwatch not lasting as long, that is the whole idea to change if necessary when technology improves beyond an exiting watches capabilities. My watch cost a bit more than some people pay a month on Sky. I backed the business from the onset knowing it'd be a great tool for me. A nice, expensive watch is another thing altogether and has its place, more for some than others. I for one now have experience of both and having always worn a decent watch for years, they are now resigned to their winders for whenever.
As for modern mobile phones, calls aren't the primary reason for using one in every case. If it was for me I'd still use my Motorola V50 and smartphones wouldn't be of much interest. I've used an Internet connected phone since the Sony P900 days because running business interests was truly portable. I could do track days or be anywhere and not miss a thing. Now it is even better, internet connection is improved and the new watches mean you glance at your wrist unnoticed, and amongst other things, without appearing rude when in company.
Don't let your desperation to troll every post ruin a basic ability to understand some posts.

That don't keep the time as well as a mobile phone, get worn less than your high heels and cost the wannabes more than their weeks wages to service.

As it seems you need it spelling out to you the key prase there was 'for a few people' i.e. not all so how about you start practising what you preach and reading and understanding what people write in posts rather than gobbing off about trolling, assuming that is, you have the ability to do that on which the jury is out in my book!
Oh and I am sure a psychologist would have a field day with how vigorously you are defending your 'watch'.... I wasn't even making a judgement on it yet you go off on some rant about desperation and trolling ... the old adage "methinks she doth protest too much" comes to mind

The concept of a smart"phone" is beginning to dwindle imho.
The new title is simply, "communications device" - how many people just use their phone for internet access (via wifi or 3/4G)?
Or just use it for texting?
I've got a friend who's deaf - so the desire to make a call per se, it totally irrelevant. However, the need to communicate via text or BBM etc etc is a real life-changer.
It's opened an entire new world for him.
And a lot of the younger generation find value in text rather than voice comms.
Just my 2p.
As for the watch, no doubt it will be successful, but not for me - I prefer a watch in a more traditional sense. But that's just me.

According to you which as a yardstick of relevance is about as important as a child's tantrum
Nothing needs spelling out. You often have no experience of both sides but it doesn't stop you posting cráp. OK, it is a public forum but you really act like a grade A cúnt. In this case, why continue to knock modern phones if 'you and a few' only require a phone to make calls? Getting it yet?
How about you change the record, you're boring even me now

Some things are just not up for discussion.
My understanding is better than your spelling. Oh and you won't find me on Facebook.

Very good and useful indeed, but it's been a function available (either locally or via DNLA) for a while now.
Seems (to me) a bit excessive as my "phone" is on my person most of the time.... or next to the remote controls anyway.
But as a sideline, I have always enjoyed your taking people to task over their postings!!! Keep it up - its highly entertaining and helping my Friday afternoon race along!!

If you seriously think the average person won't think your a complete **** for wear a Samsung gear wach you are dilusional, plus you are really defending your watch when no one has made a comment about you just the idea of the watch
The watch can be your opening line when your chatting to the girls, that will go down well

TBH, I only use my phone to control the "hifi" when we've got guests, saves getting up and interrupting the room
It's also useful to wind the wife up
And TBH, THAT would be cool to do from a watch

Anything that serves a purpose and functions well gets a look in. Dismissing things through ignorance only serves to make someone look daft, at best.
I shan't be getting the Samsung/Sony but the watch I use works great for my purposes.

I'd be more concerned about looking thick constantly using the word 'your' instead of 'you're'. The average person is just that, average. If that is to bother you in a decision then it says a lot about the person you are.

The watch and who wears it does not bother me but it seems to bother you as to what people think? and now your trying to be the big man by picking grammar faults that were just typed on a phone That attitude will go well with your watch

Samsung are saying it can be used with other phones eventually, so they will probably just sell it to apple with all the other stuff they sell to them to use in their products

You need to make your mind up what it is you're saying, you appear awfully confused. Nothing big man about pointing out you don't know the difference between the 2 simple words in the English language. You've done it again in your last post and many times before it on other posts. You see, that is how it is for some of us, listening to opinions from people who can't even spell or use basic grammar correctly negates the validity of their opinion somewhat, rightly or wrongly. You're not alone though on SN so don't get feeling spesh.

I probably will buy one if Apple launch one, they've pinched a guru from Nike who just might make it useful. Maybe the motion sensor will score my masturbation.
