Was a crap game. However afterwards the ITV4 Ian Wright documentary was superb. He will always be one of the best strikers i've had the pleasure to see play football and be an Arsenal legend.

agreed - an Arsenal legend

I once heard AW describe him as the most natural goalscorer he had ever seen/managed

I think Podolski is highly underated and played out of position. I would like to see him play up front instead of Giroud for a number of games to give him a chance of getting some form.

Yep got his recognition today, recognition he has lost the plot and hasn't got a clue what he is doing.

To not play Flamini was a joke, should be first name on the team sheet in a big game. Without him the defense is disorganised and a shambles.

The Spuds game surely was warning enough of how badly we were losing posession and constantly under attack. That should have been dealt with but no it has been left and playing against class strikers we were always going to be torn apart. I knew after 2 minutes of today's game we were on for a hammering.

Contgrats on 1000 games AW, one to remember

Feel sorry for my Dad though, being a Gunner, taking him to the Swansea game Tuesday for his birthday, hope we didn't soften them up too much!

I agree that it was stupid that AW didn't play Flamini who is very underrated IMO. Also oxlade- chamberlain, what were you thinking?!

18 goals leaked in 3 games against Liverpool, man city and now Chelsea, arsenal don't deserve to win anything based on that alone...

Good result for arsenal (shame they weren't playing)

A very very nervy performance at Wembley, actually a bit crap tbh, nearly left before the penalties

But a little bit better last night, good performance by rosicky, and really happy for podolski too

Well another season over and another 4th position in the league, no surprises there. The win today was hardly convincing so whilst Arsenal's name is on the FA Cup nothing can detract from the hammerings we got from Man City, Chelsea and Liverpool for me. Wenger thinks the squad is nearly there so won't be adding much over the Summer which just proves how out of touch he is with reality as those hammerings prove otherwise. A World class striker is essential, to think Giroud and Sanogo were going to keep us at the top of the league after February was delusional and not buying in January cost us a higher placed finish.

We also need a right back to replace Sagna and a much stronger defensive midfield player as that has been an issue since Vieira and Gilberto moved on to play out their retirement elsewhere.

That's 3 big signings required but in true Wenger style we will end up with more French flops on the cheap or even worse free. Benzema is supposed to be the targeted foward we need but again it's just because he is French, he isn't World class at all. Chelsea seem to have picked up Costa for £30m without a fight for his signature so when Wenger comes to trott out the old line of players weren't available I will reply the same as I always do and say utter bollox, Arsenal simply won't compete for World class players signatures.

I just hope at the start of next season I have more enthusiasm in August than I did at the start of this season just finished. If all we get though is Benzema unfortunately I won't. Real Madrid's cast offs are not the answer.

Bring on the World Cup as new talent always emerges and I can't wait.

I think you are right with that, all i've seen so far on transfer rumours are Arsenal being linked with more £8m rated players. Just what does Wenger think he is going to get for £8m

Costa has gone to Chelsea today for £32m, when Wenger comes out at the end of the Summer and says there were no top class players available that is the first name that should be shouted at him. Instead he wants Loic Remy at a knock down price.

But with the club being run by Jews who are only interested in what the bank balance says the club will never change. They turned down re-signing Fabregas only so they could collect the £5m of the transfer fee Chelsea had to pay Barca. Just more money to stick in the bank.

All the time they finish 4th and get Champions League football they will continue the same policy. It's time we didn't qualify as that is the only way the club will be made to buy some proven World class players and even then I think it needs David Dein to come back before that will happen. It was him who masterminded all the good transfer deals, since Dein left Wenger has been useless doing it on his own. Buying Ozil was supposed to shut the fans up but we needed more than one player including a World class striker!

It makes me laugh when Wenger or any of the players (especially Wilshere) come out and say how close they are to 'being there'. No they aren't, they are a million miles from 'being there' after being thrashed by Man City, Chelsea and Liverpool last season. They really need to wake up and see they can't compete all the time he keeps buying £8m players when the others are buying multiple £30m+ players.

See what you have done, you got me started already and it's not even August yet

Get it out of your system now - then when **** all happens you wont feel so bad about it .

As always in the summer we're all wondering who we're going to lose rather than who we're going to sign .

When **** teams who can even qualify for the CL are signing better players than you someone needs to realise the ****'s going to hit the fan.

4th is good enough for the accountants and as you have said - as far as the Arsenal board are concerned - that will do nicely.

Ho hum - still the best club in North London .

Nah the important bit was his contract expired this year, couldn't give a toss if he signs for anyone or not (good luck to anyone that does sig him) the fact he is gone from Arsenal for good

11 players released so that's cleared up some wages to spend on Alexis Sanchez

They've been linked with so many players in the last 2 weeks, Debuchy, Bender and Sanchez being the 3 most talked about and I only see Debuchy coming as he costs peanuts compared to the other 2. Looks like Juventus are trying to get Sanchez and prevent his move to the Premiership.

FFS - Now we're losing the best striker on the planet - will the pain ever end .

Even better news is we wont have to watch cashley cole anymore

Just need Adebay-cnut_face to get run over by a bus and it will be a good closed season

Either that or City will steam in at the last minute with a silly bid. There's still time for Spurs to 'nearly' sign him yet too

Looks like you've got Sanchez in the bag, I'd have liked him at United, good signing imo.

I'll be amazed if the Sanchez deal comes off, first and foremost it ends my start of season rant at Wenger for not signing a World class forward
