Smile The 2013-2014 Arsenal Thread

Well someone had to start one although I could just end up talking to myself in here all season

Great win yesterday against Spurs and the best i've seen them play in a long time, was an edge of the seat game for me. Flamini I thought was past it but he is younger than I realised and as a big fan of his first time round he made a big difference to the defensive play yesterday when he came on. For once a great free signing to have a defensive midfielder back, not Gilberto or Vieira but for now he will do.

I'm just waiting for 11pm to come round so I can see if any of the supposed Arsenal targets today actually sign. Some big names but we will see.

Don't worry, I'll talk to you.

About the Wenger 43millon deal, have they actually signed him though?

Thanks

Apparently he is having his Arsenal medical in a German hospital right now. Could be a done deal soon and maybe to encourage more signings before 11pm.

don't you think you need a defender and a striker tho ? or you just happy that wenger has put his hand in his pocket at last ? I think ozil is a great player but not sure how he will fit into your midfield. also heard you may try get demba ba on loan.

Firstly happy Wenger is at last spending (if it happens). But yes the squad is desperately thin especially in defense. The team as it was yesterday was strong, defensively I thought we were excellent (except Gibbs who can't defend for toffee and should be a winger) but Giroud suffers being the only one up front. Injuries are what cost us and something is wrong at Arsenal with the number of injuries we get from training or pulled hamstrings in matches. With so many players out the depth of the squad is what needs improving and having more top players competing for places instead of relying on inexperienced players to fill in for injuries.

I'd be happy if we Got Demba Ba even just on loan as I think he is quality given the chance like he was at Newcastle. At Chelsea he is wasted.

Ozil will have to be played behind Giroud like Bergkamp used to play behind Henry but I can't see Ozil and Cazorla playing in the same team which is an issue as Cazorla is too good to be dropped.

Well, wonders never cease.
I never thought I'd see Wenger splash that kind on money on a transfer

I have to say, I'm a little disappointed we didn't strengthen more. A few injuries and we're going to have difficulty fielding a class team.

I'm even more miffed we didn't (correct me if I'm wrong) manage to get rid of Bendtner.

Great signing in Ozil though, and great win at the weekend - loved the banter with my yido colleagues on Monday.

Ozil is a perfect signing for arsenal with his vision for a killer pass and skilful foot work,BUT I do wish that the manager had signed another striker and a defensive midfield player,I'm still very happyand if anyone does not know just how good Ozil is have a good look.SJ.

It's all good, but I do feel like the fact we couldn't lose Bendtner is like a double kick in the nuts.

I'd rather have the kit man up front than Bendtner.

Bendtner, where do I start.he was a good substitute in a couple of games but that's it,I was having a deep chat with some other arsenal supporters and my mate asked me do I really blame Bendtner for wanting to stay?he said to me that Bendtner is on 57 thousand pounds a week and crystal palace was going to pay him 24 thousand.i guess if it just comes to the money knowing that my contract was going to run out in 2014"yeah" I would proberly milk it as well,I just hope he does train hard While he is still at the Gunners and try to prove us "Naysayers" wrongSJ.

As mentioned, slightly concerned we haven't strengthened in defence.

Have you seen the fallout on twitter from the Real Madrid fans?

They're not happy replacing Ozil with Bale.

Also, if you fancy a laugh, search for #AskBale

Great game today, rosicky and arteta totally dominated the midfield,

ozil, lovely passes, not convinced by his pace though

Liverpool were poor, only Suarez impressed, just exudes danger like a great white shark

The day only marred by a scousers vicious verbal threat (as he opened the back of some transit van doing 5 mph down the holoway road) to me and my friend walking along (with our 6 year old sons in tow)

They really are scum

Was a great game, glad I made the effort to get up to London again to watch it.

I'll reiterate what I said last season, Gerrard looks spent, and in all honesty he is lucky to be in the England team on this form.

Ramsey's on fire, beautiful goal !

Did the transit van make it back OK?

He was excellent and looked anything but a player who had been out all season. He needs to be a regular starter for us, the biggest problem is where to play him! I'd play him off of Giroud but then Ozil plays there. He is a waste out wide and definitely needs to be playing high up in midfield.

On another note I can't believe they signed Kallstrom knowing he was going to be out for 6 games. We don't need another midfielder, we needed a striker.
