What are you filling it with?
The only difference being that each time you wanted to play a PS3 game you put the disc in and you had to wait for it to load up,but with the ps4 when you put the disc in it downloads parts of the game so no need to wait,as it downloads in the back ground while you are playing meaning faster start up times, all those GB'S of data are put on to the PS4 HD,I reckon that 12 or 13 full games will eat up the majority of a 500GB hard drive, plus your playstation start up firmware takes up a good few GB from the get go,and if you play Blu-ray Disc it takes the extras from the Blu-ray Disc and creates menus for each BLU-Ray film you watch,so in conclusiona 500 GB hard drive can be eating up quite quickly if you are into buying a lot of games. There may not be a lot of games out at the moment but come next year there will be plenty.SJ.

Blimey, does the XBO do the same thing? if so, 500Gb seems a little misguided!

Geezer,

100 games!?!?...... you need a new calculator mate!

I don't see 500GB being a major issue but 1TB would have been a better choice in reality...... but it all adds to the cost.

However, once it has been downloaded, you can then wipe it at a later date and re-download it if you wish (as long as you stay as a PS+ member and the game remains on the PSN network).

As I said before it is a good idea for faster download times, but the rub being is that the next Gen style of doing things eats up a lot of memory,it would not of been to bad if they at least made the console with 1TB of space, but as everything in this world it seems to come down to profit margin I.E money, but at least the PS4 made it more accessible to get to the HD and upgrade it without voiding you're warranty.SJ.

From a commercial perspective I suspect MS will release a new console in the future, either with more HD space and/or ability to swap drives out etc. This generation is supposed to be looking at a 10yr life span..... we'll be on many TB's of data storage by then.

Is it really worth the hassle? They seem to be going for ~£530 on eBay so once you factor in fees, time to go and get it, package it up and send it, you must only be coming out with £40 profit?

Wor lass has just got hold of a ps4 for me today from game, the lad in the shop was trying to sell her a "care package" for £60 pound as apparently you need to do a big download when you first turn it on and if the connection drops and the download is interrupted it can corrupt the hard drive and sony don't cover the ps4 if its you're internet that affects the download??

This sounds like total bollocks to me and I'm pretty sure if something went wrong with the console after just being switched on somebody (game or sony) would refunding or replacing under warranty anyway.

Anyone heard anything along these lines? The lad told wor lass that I should only perform the download in the middle of the night lol, is this just some numpty in game winding me up or is this the future of next gen gaming, only being able to play in the middle of the night!!

The Xbox is going to support external storage in a future update. So you will just be able to plug an external drive in one of the usb ports.
