If I were him the first thing I'd do is offload the car.
Don't anyone take the car out - unless you are 100% certain that the driver is this guy, and even then you'd be committing an offence.
Fwiw I can't believe the crassness of the admirable people who exposed him.
Set him up and FFS have the police ready and waiting !!!

The real problem for me with the vigilante is they are often ill informed and innocent people get persecuted. We had a bloke who was exposed as being one of the Jamie Bulger killers exposed on the internet. Hords of people descended on this chaps house demanding blood. It turned out he was an innocent. We had the hords of vigilante's descend on a womans house demanding blood. Her windows were smashed, car vandalised ect . They thought she was a paedophile when in actual fact she was a paediatrician (children's doctor) .
Now what worries me with this chap is people are more looking for a green stickered up scooby rather than the man. This made even more of a problem because the video showing his face has been removed. I'm sure there is more than one green stickered bug wrx floating about out there. I just hope an innocent doesn't get victimised.

I'm no expert but i thought this came under "grooming" which is an offence. The trouble is any admition he made to the people confronting him could end up inadmissible as evidence. He could claim he felt intimidated by the people confronting him so admitted to something he now deny's. He really needed to be questioned by the police under caution with legal representation if he requested it. The people who set this up imo went about it the wrong way, if they wanted a conviction. They should not of confronted him but just given their evident to the police.

I agree. Im all in favour of people dedicating their time to set up and expose people like this, but i am against the vigilante. I'm sure most people who express vigilante attitude mean well and are probably unlikely to actually do anything thats outside the law. It's just good people expressing outrage at the criminal and the justice system that often appear to do nothing.

Best leave justice to those who are paid to administer it, I'd say.

I would also like to point out something which doesn't quite fit. Someone's already mentioned the 'Hollywood style opening'.
Is there the possibility that someone's doing a distasteful wind-up?
Easy to sticker-up a scooby for an hour or two.
Why hide the number plate when they've shown his face ?
Why didn't he just turn and run? He wouldn't be pursued for long in a scooby would he?
Why did he think they were police - or did he think he was a star of Police, Camera, Action? (even then they have to have your permission to film I presume?)
Wasn't he a typical stereotyped paedo?
Are paedos that stupid as to arrange to meet their victims in a public park?
Oh - and why on Earth would he say 'yes' when asked if he'd 'come to meet Laura'?

He's not one of them - he'd have legged it straight away.
Anyway, in conjunction with:
Those paid to uphold the law weren't in this instance given a chance to look into matters. It's made worse by the fact that there's circumstancial evidence that he was in cahoots with another(s?).

Not at all condoning what this chap was trying to do but i thought i would throw a little irony into the thread, assuming this story is not a wind up. I'm a father of a girl nearly the age of the girl he was grooming so i am in no way fighting his case, but.
Its alleged he was contacting a 14 year old girl with the hope of having some kind of sexual activity with her. He was quickly labelled a paedophile and many were willing to scour the streets with there burning torches.
The irony is, Over most of Europe and indeed the world the sexual age of consent is 14. 15 in france and 16 in the uk. That school teacher who ran away with the 15 year old school girl to france was labelled a paedo in our tabloids yet was committing no crime over the rest of Europe. Paedophile actually means pre-pubescent so generally under the age of 12 or not yet reached puberty. It seems that this word is now freely used against anyone driven for outrage by the tabloids to describe anyone involved with someone under the uk legal age of 16. I once read in a tabloid about a Paedophile being arrested. Turned out is was a 19 year old lad and his 15 year old girlfriend.
So what is a paedo or does it depend what country your in ? Are the other country's age laws to young or are ours in the uk outdated ? Statistics show the average age for a girl in the uk to lose her virginity is 15 and boys 17.
Interesting age of consent map of europe

IMO once is once too many, and an excuse to ensure his hormones don't lead him astray again.
Sorting that should be deterrent enough to ensure he doesn't re-offend.
