what options do I have

If you've got discs that are in good nick (i.e. not scored, no huge lip etc), you could just change the pads and see how you get on. The pads will make the brakes feel "different", with more aggressive bite etc in my experience.

Btw, the braided lines and fluid will not make any difference to absolute stopping distance either, unless you drive the car so hard that you'd boil the older fluid. The braided lines are more of a feel thing again - the pedal will feel a bit more consistent.
Discs are like new, only 4k on them, ivee cooked my fluid on a number of occasions, once that I completely missed a turn!
