I dunno what I was reading never mind but my mate keep with me till 4th then I start pulling a little never raced got to 5th but apparently thats when you see the difference . I would of thought the s being similar weight then would be lot quicker with 40bhp more but not in this case ao maybe being rwd could be the difference maybe? Seing as power has to goto the back wheels would this make difference.
All he has over me is carbon airbox

I had ep3 a few years ago. Was great fun. The gear linkage is plastic I think so it wears over time. There is a mod to take out the slop. (Pretty easy to do)
Most high milers wont go into 2nd very well when cold.
get fsh and watch out for dodgy steering racks (pull to the right)
Drop links fail for fun as well. Every single one I looked at had seized rear calipers.

What is the mpg like on the EP3? My last car was an FN2 and it averaged 28mpg over 23k miles of ownership. Now have a FRS MK2 and read they were thirsty but over the same commute and 10k miles its 27.5 so not bad at all coming from the Civic. I think the extra torque low down helps a lot but I did expect better from a 2.0L n/a engine.

Probably was the fact you had to keep the revs high to make any progress. I do miss being able to rag it to 8000rpm + and passengers always commented on the VTEC howl. Was ok when just me but add a passenger(s) and luggage and it wasn't that fast really. That and no power in first and where there is the wheels spins so of no use.
Gearbox on the FN2 also had synchro issues in 3rd. Never bothered to fix mine as was a lease car so didn’t have to worry about it.
