Look, its what I saw. Others that saw it happen were white wagon man, coco and Paul from Sheffield Subaru service. Both cars were mapped by JGM and had simtec (other people were on std ecu's and had been mapped by other people) so how come they were the only cars with terrible power and graphs? They were put on different rollers soon after and made expected power and had good graphs.

Like I said, it was over 3 years ago and I'm not making a big deal of it. If I'm talking B/S ask WWM and see his opinion. I have said the facts and I will not be replying to this thread again.

So you don't want a free power run with an asbestos towel then lol.
I'll speak to Wwm at the next meet and see what other laws of physics we can break.
I'm not saying your a liar but what you thought you saw is just not possible.

It's perfectly plausible. Even if the exhaust got extremely hot, a damp towel would do the trick.

Close dave but not entirely accurate,NONE of the cars had been mapped by jgm they had been mapped by a company called cc motorsport in sheffield, yes one of the guys who worked there was seen holding a towel near the exhaust exit while the cars were on the dyno.

They told paul the previous owner of sheffield subaru service and previous owner of my car that his car was running dangerously lean and should not be driven it was that bad, they said they could sort it for him if he wanted them too.

I must admit at the time we thought that they were just touting for work and telling us a load of crap, especially after seeing the suspicious activity of the guy at the back of the cars.

I cant comment on any of the other cars from that day as i do not remember what happened to them after leaving area52,but as for pauls car which is now owned by me,as soon as i bought it from him i took it to noble motorsport in chesterfield for a health check on the dyno just to put my mind at rest.

I told them nothing about the car on purpose as i wanted a totally unbiased honest report from them, they ran it and to my utter surprise and shock it was running dangerously lean and they said the same thing to me area52 said to paul,do not drive it it needs sorting a.s.a.p.

So area52 were telling the truth after all, hence it was swiftly booked in for a remap with simon(jgm) and mapped properly,as for the other cars with reported issues,i simply dont know.

I hope this info is of some help.

Was he not holding the wideband sensor in the exhaust?

A far more plausible explanation than someone bunging the exhaust with said towel.

thanks for clearing that up glenn,
i must have been misinformed or mixed up who had mapped them (sorry JGM ). all i know is what happened (towel + exhaust) and we thought (wrongly) they were doing something underhand. i wasn't the only one that thought it, but i haven't been put straight afterwards

adam, i didn't make a big thing of it anyway, i said it was over 3 years ago. how come you haven't said 'cheers for saying they know their stuff'?
