V5 STI RA Ltd ftw - don't have to put up with the blue surrounds and can start it without having to push the clutch down

It's easy to say which model is the all time daddy, a 22b uk version. The best all round classic has to be a 4/5 door sti. 4 door wins on looks, 5 door on all roundedness.

The helical front diff was available for ver6 type-R as an option.

There are a few anomolies out there IIRC some things like, DCCD or ABS, 180 0r 160 diffs were options in Japan

Yes....

Would be nice to find out how many v5 sti type r limiteds were produced ?

Only being in production for a limited time .... I wonder whether it was more or less than the v6 1000 units ?

This is where I got my assumption about ABS being on some later cars, as i'm sure I have seen a pic of a Type r with ABS, but didn't know about the DCCD, which again is why I point back to the V3 as being the daddy with DCCD and R180 diff.

Also I believe MR Subaru (can't remember his name) said his personal favourite was the V3.

IIRC the reason is that the ECU could at that Time only handle either ABS or DCCD but not both.

There was even a separate ECU available for Classics to controlling DCCD (and better at it)

Personally I loved the V6

If I was getting another classic, which I'm obviously thinking about hence the lurking on here, it would defo be a type r.

Just need to decide on which model

Default V3 Type R

This is my V3 Type R. The only thing I don't like about it is the lack of the later 2 pot rear brakes which I have ready to fit.

Not the best pic.
