It's easy to say which model is the all time daddy, a 22b uk version. The best all round classic has to be a 4/5 door sti. 4 door wins on looks, 5 door on all roundedness.

There are a few anomolies out there IIRC some things like, DCCD or ABS, 180 0r 160 diffs were options in Japan
This is where I got my assumption about ABS being on some later cars, as i'm sure I have seen a pic of a Type r with ABS, but didn't know about the DCCD, which again is why I point back to the V3 as being the daddy with DCCD and R180 diff.
Also I believe MR Subaru (can't remember his name) said his personal favourite was the V3.

IIRC the reason is that the ECU could at that Time only handle either ABS or DCCD but not both.
There was even a separate ECU available for Classics to controlling DCCD (and better at it)
I've got a dccd box and rear diff in my uk classic 99 model and it has its own controller etc, great bit of kit fair play over the standard impreza gearbox
