Such terrible news to hear of this,
I had the pleasure of his company for around 1.5 hours at rally day where neither of us knew each other but we sat and chatted away like long lost mates.
Managed to catch up with him at the prodrive gathering as well, again sat chatting for ages.
Such a genuine guy with all the time in the world for anyone, it's a shame everyone else couldn't be half as nice a guy as Kev as the world would be a better place indeed.
He got dealt a nasty hand in life but lived it to the max, a true inspiration to me even after only briefly having the pleasure of knowing him.
R.I.P Kev

his family requested that any money raise or donated is to the hospice that cares for Kevin
I went round with a tin at JAPFEST And a big thanks to all the scooby community that donated.
As soon as its counted up I will let you know
The funeral is this coming Thursday

However, Shell's latest promotion, Shell Drivers Club, enables customers to opt for where their points go, one of which is a donation to MacMillan Cancer Care.
I'm therefore changing my preferred choice to that charity.
Every litre of V-Power (nitro+) I buy will go towards a donation to that good cause.

I missed the collection, for whatever reason (probably because we left at midday).

I could never do that.
What I have is a stunning car that is a tribute to the care and attention that a true enthusiast bestowed on it.
And a tribute to Kevin is just how widespread that appreciation is, as we've witnessed on this thread.

I wanted to thank you for your very thoughtful and generous offer that you made to Kev in his last weeks. Kev forwarded the e mail to me that you sent to him offering for him to keep and use the car as it was still his own for as long as he had left.
Kev and his close friends that he shared this with we're overwhelmed by your generosity and we will not forget it.
Kev really appeicated your offer and your should know that .
I hope to catch you some time in the future Dave.

I was hoping to catch up with you yesterday but not knowing you or what you look like doesn't help!

I suspect that it won't be too long before we meet.
You'll know the car, and the overweight baldy driving it on Thursday will be me. The words 'ell-oar butty' as I respond to anyone who says "hello" or "hi" will be the ultimate giveaway.
This thread is a tribute to Kevin and there are probably quite a few posters who never met him at all. I'd like to try to convey to them why this is an extraordinary, probably unique matter.
I'm not naive, not given to excessive sentimentality and I'm certainly no saint. I was in a very cautious mood when I went to view the car, yet within 20 minutes I was moved to say "yes I'll have it" and less than 36 hours later the full amount was paid via Internet Banking.
Kevin didn't 'persuade' or 'convince' me. He didn't have to.
He was absolutely up front about matters, all the circumstances, including a DVLA bungle.
Rarely - if ever - will you find a person who exudes such decency and inspires such confidence in themselves to that extent.
I've had a bit of ribbing, gentle banter from 'the boys' about whether I'll ever see the car or the money but they trusted my judgement (they weren't told of Kevin's condition until after I picked the car up).
In our local churchyard there is a headstone that bears the inscription
"He gained neither wealth nor fame
Much more than this, he gained the respect of his fellow Man".
Robocop has earned the right to put that on his sun strip, nicely parked in God's great Garage.
RIP Kevin.

We also had a little selection of cakes which were sold for a small donation to the pot.
A massive thanks to all those who donated on the day, we raised £178, of which £65 was donated by Bristol and Bath Scoobies, everyone's generosity has been extremely heartwarming.
The monies raised will go to the hospice that cared for Kev during his illness

Can I ask if there are any arrangements being made by 'the Scooby Community' for Kev's funeral eg. convoy, guard of honour etc. etc. ?

There is such a thing Tony.
The only certainty is that during life, death will come.
Human beings naturally grieve at the passing.
However, more and more funerals are becoming celebrations of the life of the departed. In fact I think it's fair to say that it's the norm these days.
And I have to say that today's service WAS a celebration of Kev's life.
It's easy to make people cry at funerals, but making them laugh is brilliant, an onerous task very well done, and Pete did him proud, coupled with a congregation who appreciated it all.
To see a coffin with a number plate on it is unique, as undoubtedly Kevin was, and his greatest friends and family to do such a thing.
And to look in the rear-view mirror and see so many looking at HIS car driving away summed up the impact he made in his life, and how he touched lives.
We cannot ask for more.
RIP Kevin aka 'Robocop'.

Sounds to me like Kev and LWC have a lot more in common than their shared ownership of a car and love of subarus.
I am certain kevs memory will live on, and his mantle could not have been taken on by a more worthy gentleman.
The true measure of a man is in his deeds and the impression he leaves upon his peers, I for one am suitably impressed by both.
As one becomes older one begins to appreciate the things in life that really are of value, this community has lost one diamond geezer only to discover another.
I'm sure kev is at peace, life can be cruel sometimes but stories like this do restore ones faith in mankind, and in some strange cosmic way, once again harmony and balance has been restored within our tiny piece of the universe.

Been on this forum for 14 years and just when I think it really has gone to the dogs I read something like this..... this is one of the positives of what the Internet can do.... form real communities and bring out the best in people!
