Galaxy S4 has landed...!
Well stranger things have happened, but now i have a quality device i'll admit it's so lovely and a joy to hold.
If im honest, it'll take some doing to top the one, htc might have done an own goal there.
As for the ir sensor, it's one of those things you feel you don't need. But with the tv app it's a really useful bit of kit, and htc have released the source code for it, so hopefully it won't take too long for devs to come up with some sweet apps for it.
There's a good thread on xda, one guy posted up some quotes from gs4 owners, after thinking it'll best their one. Only to come running back after being disappointed that the one was much better.
Silly little things, like shutter speed, the ois or the really useful things like zoe mode or blinkfeed.
They've really knocked it out of the park this time, though in fairness they had to, as this is their do or die unit.
As for the whole no sd card/battery brigade pfft, iphone has been getting on fine for years,
plus on dc-hsdpa i have 25mbit at my disposal so i can just dropbox stuff.
Or there's this
http://www.kickstarter.com/projects/...tphones-and-ta
Not to mention morphie have just released a juice pack with a 2500mah battery, but battery life is decent anyway.
Here's the almighty s3 vs the one in audio recording, keep the volume down low when you do listen

As for mocking the htc issues, the gs4
http://www.phonesreview.co.uk/2013/0...it-new-device/
now reported to have a screen blurring or pink spot issue.
Seems a lot of this news is being buried, wonder what samsung are threatening these sites with.
So there you go, happens to everyone eh.

You're not missing out it's still a good device.
The S4 is more like an S3s
As for fawor, whatever makes you feel better.
I won't bore people by posting links, there's plenty out there to know which is best.
Just google smartphone of the year 2013

I have had mine a couple of days now.!st impressions, screens fab, cameras fab, amazing zoom function.Coming from a HTC I am finding it all a little confusing..so many gadgets which mean nothing to me.The Wifi hotspot doesnt seem to be as powerfull signalwise as htc, will give it a good test over the weekend on the road. The plastic back is fine, makes no odds to me as I keep my phones in a leather case..they dont tend to survive falling off roofs without them IME.
The same like iphone 3 is like 4s
buhaha smartphone of the year, ill give You 2 more weeks when you spot dust
between glass and screen, thats common issue with one.(yeah quality build
) next HTC warranty service which is a joke, crap android support.
HTC one received 1 point on 10 when repair it.
s4 8 on 10
etc........
smartphone of the 2013 will be nokia with oled screen and pureview 41mpx camera.
or nexus 5 with oled 1080p but they change mind for ips 720p screen probably.

As for dust, nothing here, owned it since 15th march, as for repairs, it's samsung that's shocking htc being pretty decent, with apple showing them all how it should be done.

I am sending my s4 back and have already re ordered the one again... Camera is really disappointing on s4 and it really does not like anything which is moving every shot i take ends up blurry!
From someone who had both phones camera on the htc is miles ahead. Cant wait for my new htc again
hope this one is a good one though?)

agree. Currently own both, and the camera is just one reason of several that the GS4 will be going back and I will be keeping the One. As I explained in One thread, almost every picture I take with the One comes out pretty good. With the GS4, they either come out excellent or complete garbage. I'll take the consistency.

HTC one for me every time, most versatile phone camera there is.
Go for the GS 4 for these reasons:
- slightly better landscape photos in bright conditions
- need more MP because you crop/zoom in on photos a lot, have a very high res. monitor and/or print photos out on large paper
Reasons I would go for the one:
- slightly better macro shots by the looks of it
- better in low light/dark conditions
- very fast shutter, means you don't need as steady of a hand and have a better chance of getting a usable/non blurry photo especially in low light/dark conditions
- better audio recording overall, more so in loud environments, the one is rather quiet with normal noise levels i.e. talking, but it will improve
- a few more features overall i.e. slow motion recording and I like how zoe works
- photos are smaller (I have thousands of photos taken within a year so it all adds up)
- OIS
- video recording looks better overall (not a huge difference though)
- much larger FOV
The GS 4 can do very well at low light/dark conditions with night mode, however, it comes at a cost, slow shutter thus only useful for non moving objects and if you have a steady hand.
Some more comparisons to the GS 4:

Sorry lemon but You put nothing on Your post above.
That 3 opinions are from losers who never owe s4- release date 26 friday, and yeah they swap it for one on 3 days,
they ordered one probably month ago, later htc move relase date closer to friday 26,at the and they stay with egg in the hands
You can read on every forum - HTC camera is a joke - not working like it should be- read" what HTC says about it".
HTC has 2nd worst service (just after alcatel
)
HTC last 3 months financial results collapse , almost no one buy ONE.
How crap must be that quality-even plastic S4 has better
That tread is about S4,my advice open htc one tread and im sure no one will compare it with nothing
One more: HTC release UK date is 29 march or close to it (yeah right You owe it from 15 march)

To be totally honest here, there isnt much between either handset, you had "pre production" S4's on a lot of those tests as it was only released last Saturday and it really is swings and roundabouts when picking the top end handsets now, you could add the Sony Xperia Z in there, it really is a nice handset and cheaper than both the HTC one and S4.
You wont go far wrong picking any of the latest 'droid handset releases, they are all very good

Tony
Tip: dont vault a fence chasing after your two year old son with the Xperia Z in your back pocket and land badly, the screen doesn't like it
Lets see how what Sony say on repair costs as I dont expect that to be covered by the warranty, they've had it two days and said nothing so far and with an advised turn around of 5 days the longer they stay silent the better chance I have of having it fixed for free
(no chance)
It's fun having the old HTC Desire back up and running in the interim, it's bloody bomb proof !!

That is taking the P in my book...
ouch!
i know it sounds like a trolling but not intentional. this is the good thing about apple they may want £100-£150 but your problem is rectified in 5 minutes not 5days.
you gone for it FM?

Its probably the most expensive part of the phone any manufacturer replaces
Lets get one thing clear it is the front glass NOT the screen that was damaged.
Still undecided what to do, keep the Desire for another 22 months or cough up, I just cant justify that amount of money on a piece of glass.....
