"People in the UK now fit into seven social classes, a major survey conducted by the BBC suggests."
So basically it is a load of bollocks hyped as "cutting edge news" by the BBC who are struggling to report on anything actually relevant to what is happening in the real world these days
And "Due to the unique way that it is funded" - there is bugger all that we can do about it

Established middle class because I love the theatre daahhling but I have absolutely no savings. My parents' generation now in their lates 60's and early 70's are the ones who had jobs for life and final salary pensions. That situation isn't there now for many and certainly not me.

Emergent Service Worker:
Which seems a little bollocks considering it says I'm supposed to have little savings, when infact, I probably have more than the average person my age, thanks to grandparents etc.

I always expected it when I fould out that a London bus driver was earning more than me as a fully qualified flying instructor on anything up to 4 engine jets!

Established middle class, don't you know, what, what, a load of bollax, mum was a nurse and dad worked down the pit and in a plastics factory.
It's all about da money and the company my mrs keeps, i don't like any of the pompuss ar$eholes she works with, I am partial to museums, fine art and classical music though.
Common as muck me, working class through and through, despite my unusually high IQ, earned every penny, .

If a dog was born in a stable, does that make it a horse?
There are countless examples of un-cultured people winning huge amounts of money on lotteries and the like. Does that immediately transform them into Noel Coward / Socrates?
I'm thinking the answer is no.
Money does not equate to class.
If you want proof - google the Fulford Fvcker. Change V to U [Swear filter is a pain]

Must be our friend list (included plenty of blue collar jobs though) and I guess our savings are a bit unusual. Still odd though. Have some cash stashed and know and accountant and suddenly you're well posh... Ermmmm...

I have always considered that putting people into different classes was a load of nonsense, instituted purely for people who considered themselves rightly or wrongly as a cut above the rest.
The only really important thing is a person's character in my opinion.

Apart from who you know and what you do for leisure, you could have a couple earning £33k each (say a teacher or nurse) before tax (so £50k after tax between them) who have sold a house and are renting and have £100k equity in the bank to be elite. I bet they don't feel very elite, but there you go.

While not teachers or a nurse, that's not miles off our situation (except we saved without flogging a house) and definitely don't feel very Elite.
Oh well, I was always cr4p at the game Elite so its nice to finally gain the name without spending hours flogging narcotics on some strange planet.

Established middle class for me......... absolute bollocks!
In my eyes there's no such thing as "middle class" there's the toffs (royals and their relatives) and then there's the rest of us who one way or another have to work to live.
