Blimey some of you have been through the works.

I've had various broken bones and stuff but the worst was a lumbar puncture with minimal pain killers. So glad they gave me something though.

I broke mine in a car crash. All I remember is waking up on a pre-theatre ward in hospital the next morning, though I'm told I was conscious whilst Fireman Sam cut me out of the car.

I went over the handlebars of my bike cycling to a Uni lecture one day and broke my wrist. That smarted a lot as my wrist was the size of a melon. I manage to walk about 1/2 a mile the Medical Centre on campus and lock my bike up - that was one slow walk...

Some of the stories on here are properly cringe worthy and it almost feels churlish to complain about a humble tooth infection by contrast, but by heck that hurt!

Only thing that competed was when a chiropodist put acid on a verruca I got as a kid but didn't secure the bandage that kept the acid from seeping out onto the adjacent alive skin properly ...... f**king Ow!! That profession is in the dark ages I tell thee!

Without doubt, the most debilitating pain that I have EVER had was a dying nerve in a molar. I put up with it for 3 weeks whilst popping stupidly dangerous amounts of painkillers (early 2013). Saw the dentist and he did all manner of tests - settled on a sedative filling which has worked wonders so far.

this week pain in the ****,so painful to sit down thought I had cancer,havent been doctors gp in 8 years, and only twice in 20 years(so not a burden to nhs!), finally missus made me go to walk in centre, the embarresment of taking pants down and having a male doctor prodding my bum. Result was it was a large abcess, took some tablets and it finally burst 12 hours later what a relief but the aftermath of pus was gross.

Kidney stones has to be the worst lol, trying to putout going to the toilet but in the end you have to so you get yourself ready for the worst pain ever lol

Imagine pissing boiling water just after someone has put cuts on your man piece then to top it off pouring vinegar on top

I've also had pneumonia and pleurisy, I'm bad for getting colds due to having cleft pallet as a child which has ****ed up my nasal passages which mean all my boogers go down into me instead of blowing my nose which I can't do

I can imagine. Years ago we had a lad in our sports team who had stones in his kidney. During a lengthy journey to the tournament, that healthy and happy young man was in such excruciating pain that he was literally rolling and flapping around on the train floor like a fish out of water. It was not good to see him like that. He was fine once his stones were out.

The moment one of my cruciate ligament and knee cartilage first damaged. I'd say that was pretty painful rolling around on the ground trying to find a position to stop the pain

Yeah, I have broken my skull, ankle arms, toes, fingers and ribs and none are as painfull as when your knee 1st goes as any movement causes pain.

Bone problems heal in weeks but I have suffered with knee problems for over 20 years and if they pop out of place its still fecking painfull.

Mate did something to his ankle several years ago windsurfing, came back complained about and has ever since

But never rested up / had something done about it. As far as I can see he uses it as an excuse get time off work ( get doc sign him off couple weeks ) . He's had x ray etc

He's traffic warden so probably walks 10 mile a day.


Maybe I been hard on him - maybe there's **** all that can be done.


Except he's hoping for a big payout from ncp ( employer) for industrial injury, one day!!

In terms of healing yes; they take far longer to heal.

I ruptured my Achillies and the Dr said I'd have been better off breaking my leg!

Funny enough when it happened it was a very strange kind of pain: initially it felt like I'd been hit with a sledgehammer in the back of the heel followed by the kind of pain where you know you've done something bad - extremely pervasive and debilitating, but that only lasted for about 5 mins then it was just a case of don't try and put weight on it or you'll hit the roof. Each morning for about 2 weeks when I woke up and stood up for the first time, the blood flow to the area was like severe cramp! However that responded well to pain killers! Then it was about 8 weeks of gradually using it more and rehab. It was most unpleasant and wouldn't like to repeat the experience!!

BUT

In terms of intensity of pain, I'd say the tooth infection was worse, hand on heart. That didn't last as long though!

Straining my back no matter what postion I tried to relieve the pain nothing worked and had to go to hospital and get dosed up on morphine.
The worst quick pain I've ever had when I had anaesthetic put down my old fella so they could put a tube into it to see why I had pissed out blood,nice and cold going in but **** me after a couple of seconds it felt like my dick was on fire.

Dislocated my shoulder 13 times in 1 year, weakened the muscle when I fell over at the pub celebrating Wolves winning the play off final against Sheffield United many moons ago!!!!

Shoulder would pop out with the slightest of jolts and then I would have the same procedure, Goto hospital, walk straight in(jump the que) then injection of morphine, And then wake up with my shoulder back in its socket and in a sling and then ready to go home(dont remember them puttng it back in)!!! Then a week later it would come out again and start the procedure of going to hospital again!!!!

Lucky enough Ive had 2 operations on my shoulder now and its been good, Not come out for 3 years!!!!

Partially dislocated mine about 30 times, but twice fully. DAMN IT HURTS! But at the "threat" of surgery, I did intensive physio for ages and managed to avoid it - now almost 100% okay. I am careful though.

Most inconvenient is when surfing - it once went out on a really heavy reef break and I had to paddle in one armed; got completely pasted by the waves!

Got a massive scar down the front and back of my shoulder from surgery!! Kind of wish I took the physio more serious when I first did it, as I went once and didnt go after that, which to be honest was my own fault.
Once I had the operation and had to do the physio part again, I was fully commited to it.

Doctors told me that the more times it comes out the more you wear the socket out where the ball to your shoulder sits in the socket, eventually any little movement and your shoulder comes staright out. Had to have my muscle stitched across the ball and socket to stop it coming out!!!!

Got my foot caught in a grass covered animal hole on Brecon. My heavy burgen caused me to twist as i fell. End result was my right knee broken in 2 places. You dont remember pain but i do remember blacking out and puking because of the pain lol.

I snapped mine, didn't hurt a bit. A lot of blood though.

Hospital wanted to sew it back on..... i decided against it, so now i don't have a banjo. Serves no use anyway

Yup , been there myself. Common in middle aged me by all accounts. quick op for a trim up and the battering ram is good to go again.

Ouch! They went through the procedure in detail and I thought **** that! My main worry was not being able to surf; I was in the gym and using a Theraband almost daily for a long time after that.

Stuff like throwing a ball hard still smarts badly and the odd thing tweaks it unexpectedly.

Snapped my banjo too, didnt think it hurt much either. I'd like to think I was hurting her more I'd defo say ligaments are worse than bone breaks. Joints are the one thing you should look after

Well I would of said breaking couple of ribs during game of rugby then going into another scrum but the last 10 odd years of having no cartilage left on my shouder bones has been hell no matter were i sit stand lay or what i do its agony,consultant told me in 95 because of my age he didnt want to do anything at that time, if i can wait 10-15years for technology to catch up like hip replacements then he would think about doing replacement or i could have it pinned so i couldn't move it didnt fancy having it pinned but now its gone past a joke & im waiting to see him about replacement as the pain just goes on 24/7 no matter what.
