Not really familiar with the SC series turbos. Last Hx35 I ran was with a .63 AR ex housing, around 9cm/sq. this one is with a smaller .48 (7cm) housing with some tricks. Hoping for 1bar+ boost by around 3500rpm, full boost before 4k, that's a lot of air from this turbo! Hoping my smaller exhaust is not too much of a restriction.

Watching this thread with interest - do keep us updated

I sold my own holset due to not having the time to custom fab pipework etc at the moment, but i was originally going to run a H2C turbo with a custom exhaust housing for it from "Tims Turbo's" over in the states (equivalent to your 0.63 housing).

I wish I'd kept it, tbh, as I still haven't managed to get the car together even though I've gone all standard fit bits, so it would have made no difference in the end

I am watching a Holset hx 35 on eBay said its a all new turbo that we have been waiting for and a buy it now of £500 for a new turbo which is cheap !!
So are they a good upgrade from standard twin scroll turbo ?

Unless you're handy with a welder I wouldn't bother.

You'll need to build a lot of custom parts, so if you're paying for labour, you might as well go with a proper rotated kit and turbo - probably work out cheaper.

Yeah 2.5 is going to spoo It a whole lot faster. My mate is away to put a billet HX35w on his 2.3 SAAB engine, same custom exhaust housing as I am using, will be interesting to see the difference in spool between them

saab + holset = good things

Does he have a project thread anywhere? My old "ghetto saab" used to run a holset h1c, with a ridiculously big exhaust housing - full spool by 4500 rpm, but once on song it was OK

Only just turned the key this afternoon, a few jobs to do tomorrow then a full road test.
I would imagine loads of lag and heaps of boost though! Let the fun begin

Looks good but seems to be pretty close to things, just make sure all hoses and pipe work has adequate distance and protection from the turbo, and that its not touching the inlet,it should definitely be a hoot though.SJ.

Yeah I'm aware of what it needs to clear, should be a laugh!

Did you build yourself a one piece up-pipe, or did you modify an existing one?

Either way, I'd be interested in any pics from the build

If they had garrett style flanges i would happily do a comparison with a billet 30r, sc 35r and a hx35, many people claiming to make 550+ and outspool the garrett equivalent...

I hope someones just pinched the photo .

I just read the first ebay ad, it says hx35 with 12cm turbine housing capable of 600hp, so he must be using a smaller turbine housing to only be aiming for 450
