Why is Saturday night TV sh*t?
Only defence is to have something worth watching recorded and play it back.

After 3 weeks on Oz, it was strange to have the TV on,
As usual its CN or the other channels that my other half seems to be addicted too lol.
Funny neither of them went near the TV, when the sun was shining etc.
We actually managed to sit and watch a DVD (Promethius) last night, havnt watched a film for ages lol

I'm still in touch with my ex Czech GF and been about quite a few Eastern European countries, and yes the women are gorgeous.Lived in Czech for a few months, and it was one of the best times of my life so far, can't blame her for wanting to to move back...
Mart360 and stiscooby, this is true that during/after a good holiday, TV watching seems such a waste of time. For a bit, anyway; until you get back into the usual swing of things again. Being away makes you realise than there's more to life than TV and Scoobynet etc.
The shame is that the usual 'pillar to post and back and again....' life takes over in a few days after, and you find yourself back in front of the telly, mindlessly changing channels.
I don't watch much TV because there are other things for me to prioritise in my usual, day-to-day life. There are people who do, as their everyday evening ritual. Nothing wrong with that. That's what TV is there for.
I know some people who don't have telly at all. Not that they can't afford it, but they just don't want one. Most of these people are very happy with this arrangement of theirs, but there's one couple who split quite badly
. It wasn't because one of them fought to get telly. It's because they just fought, anyway. I just think that if they had telly, one of them could have watched cr@p on it, and the other one could have done something else rather than fighting like two cockerels. Anyway.
What I find rude is when some people leave their telly on when you go to visit them. Some of such people simply want to show off their LED, some are just lacking social skills. Ah, well.
dpb, get yourself a Blu-ray and attach it to your telly. Then you can buy some good films (old and new) and watch them when you like. TV programmes are generally ****, I agree. I'm also pleased to know that you once knew a Ukrainian lady.

Thankfully I've worked weekend nights for the last ten years, and on the odd occasion I am on holiday and still at home on a Saturday night I am always completely appalled at drivel on the main channels. We have a large collection of DVD/BD's and DL's to go at, and record many of the better shows for later viewing so never have nothing to watch. However, my shifts will be changing soon and I shall more often be in on a Saturday night, so prepare for my rantings
I flatly refuse to watch people trying to sing, trying to dance, trying to ice skate, trying to swim etc etc etc. To be allowed on my TV you must have already proven your ability in the lower echelons of entertainment and be capable of impressing me. There is a mild curiosity in mocking the afflicted with delusions of adequacy in the early weeks of those Simon Cowell shows, but apart from that, NO !

TV is generally complete pish which is why in the 6months of moving into this house I still haven't bothered with an aerial.......but sometimes little gems appear such as Utopia.
I hate programmes that are designed for a target audience of everyone on the planet, they are always very diluted in the content which is why modern movies are so unbelievably crap also.

Every one is moaning about sh*t tv programmes so lets hear what you would like to see. I use an HD recorder, pick and choose what I would like to see throughout the week, record it and watch it when there's nothing but rubbish on.
