So, bit of an update on the car.

Turns out upon inspection it was full of fuel, when it cut out and subsequent failure to start and locking up would have been hydro locking.

Jury is out on if it survived this, but it wasn't the engines fault that's for sure.

Inspection of the engine has revealed no specific damage

So it looks like a fault with one of the injectors i recently installed

Expensive episode, engine will be refreshed and reinstalled and will be back fighting fit soonish.

Annoying but great news about the engine. Could have been a lot worse.

Not sure yet, need to test them, see if they are to blame.

Maybe i messed up when i put them in and something got contaminated. I was careful though.

Short block is built by all accounts, heads ready to bolt up too.

1 change for reassembly so far, Fuji Racing oil pickup going in.

Comparing with the pics from the first build the Mahle pistons have a fancy coating now.

So, problem was confirmed as a stuck open injector.

They have been serviced and working normally now so looks like contaminated fuel line was the issue.

This is how my old injectors (DW1300's) tested. I was advised by a local garage that the flow difference was too great to bother with cleaning them. So i did the right thing to change them out, although the end result was not so good

The injectors are for sale if anyone needs DW1300's for spares.

They work fine, spay pattern seems good, just beware i would not recommend using them as a set.

The car is back! Not had the opportunity to drive it yet unfortunately, hopefully later (work permitting). What i can notice right away is the engine has been installed with a lot of attention to detail, cable runs and hoses are tidier and secured better than before. It sounded sweet as a nut coming off the transporter.

Just to confirm the work that was done on a high level i may miss some things.

Heads cleaned, resurfaced, reassembled
Block resurfaced, bored to the next oversize and fitted with Mahle 2618 pistons
New bearings
RCM Headgasket
Cosworth belt kit
Fuji oil pickup
PTP Turbo Blanket
Killer B thermostat housing
Fuji Cylinder 4 cooling mod

The Perrin engine mounts had started to melt !!!
They have been replaced with GrpN items and the headers are now wrapped as well as ceramic coated.

Hopefully today can take it out.

What software have you used to link? I have an STi hatch with the same headunit and not having much luck finding software for it.

Have you had much of a chance to test these brakes? Was looking at them earlier, they look awesome.... performance wise???

Thanks. Ah, well no, no Syvecs and no plans to go there. Is there anything like that for EcuTek?

Small update.
After a sad bereavement in the family the car has not been getting much attention lately.

There was a further fuel issue some time back and this was almost certainly due to the Bosch filter i had used, this is widely advertised as 8 micron online, however i cannot find anything "official" to support that.

Anyway, the injectors were sent to ID for service and one of them was almost completely blocked!
They are back with me now, sealed as new and with a report confirming they are all running in spec, they are for sale if anyone is after a set, they only covered a couple of hundred miles.

So the Bosch filter was binned, replaced with a Microglass filter as suggested by ID and a brand new set of ID1300 were installed since i did not want to wait for the others to come back from the US.

Then life took over for a while.

As of now the car is running well, still needs another 100 or so miles before the 500 mile oil change.
The fueling is still a little out given the change in injectors, but I'm gradually dialling it in and it's only running at low RPM low load at the moment.

This week i got RealDash running on the Android headunit, and it's pretty cool.
In fact from the limited testing I've done the gauges respond quicker than those on Toucan ! Highly recommended.

To get it working i used some info on the RealDash forum about how to configure the XML config file and used a USB CAN analyser connected via an On-the-go adapter to the head unit.
Can hi and lo were tapped into from the cable going to the shiftlight.
