I think if we (as an enthusiasts forum) are having a discussion about what spec the car could or could not be and whether a wide track could or could not have DCCD and yet still can't reach a conclusion it's starting to build a picture of a car to walk away from, and definitely not one to pay a dealer mark up for.

Truth be told I would only buy this is it (a) had lots of history, maybe having been owned by a forum member who can explain its history, or (b) the dealer threw in an amazing deal like interest free finance, 12 month mechanical warranty and full service.

Just my interpretation of the situation.

if the car turns out to be legit and you can knock some money off i dont see a problem if its straight and in good condition.

realistically most people never use the dccd but it is a desirable option to sell the car.

Exactly my thoughts, yes, I'd like a DCCD car, but I couldn't afford one, it HPI checks out, all it takes is a call to Subaru to find out exactly what the situation is. If I can get a good deal on this, it might just end up being a bargain. They've posted a price and description that would deter most buyers, just because of how wrong it is, not because there's anything wrong with the car.

Not many people are as cheeky as me when it comes to offers on cars, so might just end up with a decent car. And it's got stockers on from a local scooby owners club so should be able to find them no bother.

it will be worth less when you sell it but if you get it cheap enough this wont be an issue.

check what the road tax is, depending on when it was registered it could be in the high £400 plus bracket

That'll be an 06 reg Blobeye, the cut off date is 26th March 2006, 55 reg ended on 28th Feb.

Plus I couldn't give a shti anyway, breaks down to being £3.50 a week more than the cheaper band, if I can't afford that, but can afford 20k miles a year in a Scoob STi, there's something seriously wrong in my life.

I used to be the manager at that dealership. They will not negotiate on the price by more than £100. That's Evans Halshaw company policy. Not worth the hassle from big bosses if they do regardless of what money they make from you. If it is an import, they won't be bothered as the research they do for pricing is be cheapest by £100 within 60 miles for like for like.
3 month basic warranty, tax on top , £99 rip off admin fee to pay, they won't do Cambridge etc.. As they have a £300 preparation policy too. U can't service and do a cambelt and whatever else is needed for £300 even internally.

Walk away pal. Better dealers out there
I wouldn't work for them again nor recommend them to anyone
What was the salesmans name? I probably took him on. Ha

At £8k i say keep looking, your problem will come when you try to sell it, i think you'll have trouble and have to take a big hit to get rid.

8 weeks is not a long time to be looking for the right car, i spent 6 months looking for my V3 STI type r, don't jump in and buy future trouble, and by the sounds of it the dealer is crap and has no idea what the car is, i wouldn't want to pay a premium and not get the service.

I paid £8k for my 05 widetrack blob with 36k on and full Subaru history in December.

I did see an 05 plate non widetrack blob for £7k on 40k. I think the problem you will have is that everyone looking at this age of car will want widetrack and dccd so resale values won't be quite as good.

My old '05 STi was a wide track without DCCD, it was a Euro import from Malta. As said it was an option with these, a £1000 at that I think! As long as it is a well looked after car and you get it for the right price then you should be golden (it does look nice btw).

I know mate I've seen yours, it's too much enough and I doubt you'll be accepting trade ins. Took me about 5 mins to haggle them down to £7k via friend. Just been on the phone and told them what deal I want to take the car as they've no idea what they have on their hands.

Fair enough pal, Mine doesn't have the picnic table you get with yours though!? Never read that in a sales pitch before.....It has to be an import, we don't have the weather

Alan, try and find out, via the logbook if possible, if the previous owner was a lad called Mark from Blyth.

If it was, it's a euro import.

Got a contact number for someone that knows the previous owner if it's the same car.

Well I done my research and I'm glad I did, the car is a Euro import and has no DCCD, though still a widetrack. Have just signed the documents and I should be collecting the car tomorrow lunch time.

It's absolutely immaculate, been serviced at Subaru every 6k miles, only just been done, had timing belt done and is completely standard (just as I wanted) apart from blitz exhaust. I can't wait to get my hands on it. Ended up paying not much more than £6500. For it.

Glad tour happy with the car but I thought the only reason people go for the wide track is because if the Dccd?
