Looks good Mantas, regarding the Aanti lag and mafless, I read that engine mapper in Wrexham was doing that on the OE ECU. I know Alan has also mentioned the CarBerry Rom stuff to Rich so watch this space - it does look like some very interesting stuff

I spoke to Richard about it, he's a busy man and didn't have a time to look at it yet, but i don't think it's going to be much different to opensource regards tables etc., you can have a look at Romreider site they've got pictures and it looks very simillar to what FB is using ATM....

The look and feel of the software is probably very similar as it is using the same info, but it seems quite a bit more capable in terms of what it can offer. Previously, if you wanted anti-lag, switchable maps and a mafless config you had to change the ECU, so this is a much more cost effective way of getting the same capability - just the next step for Rich in terms of what he could offer

Funny thing noticed today , measured the drop front and rear after fiting new KYBs , and its totaly oposite to what it was before with old shocks. Wheel center to arch

Frot 365mm
Rear 355mm

It's very close to perfect TBH as its 370-360 on 01-04 cars.
Before the front was lower than rear.... will see how this affects the handling after geometry ...

Had a bit of this today....

Pulls like a train, and not to lagy as someone was scaring me, specialy with my JDM box ratios....Injectors almost maxed out and still left some more ponies, but that's abit later, together with a FMIC unless a bargain pops out.

We'll get Carberry rom on it sometime later this year and probably 20% meth map to sharpen things up a bit...

The journey continues....

Nice one Mantas
20% meth map should bring you little bit more power/torque with nice spool up.You are still on the STi pink injectors?

John@Braveheart sti is great guy and very helpful,I only can recommend him

About the FMIC,we're run Japspeed FMIC on the our wagon and has been OK for 490bhp plus 25bhp NOS shot and really I can only recommend this FMIC,should be OK for yours needs

If Rich can find the time to work with the Carberry ROM he'll have a few people lining up - the features it opens up that previously required an aftermarket ECU will see an up-turn in people exploited their factory ECU

It's a soft Andy simillar to Race Rom on the EcuTek. Only it's used on a opensource and has same features as on a licensed EcuTek .

Just been out in it this afternoon and car pulls very well now, especially at the top end. After approx 60 mph it just gets a new lease of life and just wants to keep accelerating! Even after 7k revs there is a lot more it can give, also a smooth off boost, low boost drive and good idle. The APs are a vast improvement over the Brembo setup, much more controlled and linear braking that inspires a lot more confidence than the std setup. A good package for the track now IMO

The Brembos seem to work very well on the classics due to them being quite a bit lighter, which is part of te reason I'm shedding weight in an attempt to build the package with brembos rather than stepping up to a K-Sport/D2 package

I think a nice big turbo would work well if I was to ever change the block/gearbox from the WRX but I just want to finish this car and start on another

Brembo std are good for Classics as you say John and for new age fast road. But any track or high speed hard braking they soon get heat build up and lose braking ability. I will have to upgrade to the new D2 6 pots asap.

I think Tina has other plans involving buying a house, so I might have to do with a good garage as a solid foundation initially

Todays mission...Weather man , please dont f**k it up .... Got hold of 740cc Lateral modified injectors , thanks Andy Oakes....Absoloute bargain. Weather permiting will try and fit them....

Recently couple issues popped out. 1st and most painfull , wheel bearings , front and left, cant find anyone selling just 1 rear R180 hub , been searching for some time now , no luck . 2nd is this .... when going through the bump or pothole have a clunkin sound , after taken the wheel off and checking everything around found that the front ARB bushes are worn out badly so will have to get 22mm udjustable instead of buying just bushes i think...

Dude, if you get stuck I have 2x new wheel bearings sitting on the shelf @FB's gathering dust, doubt if I will be putting them this side of the summer so if you are tight for cash at the moment just replace when you can? either that or I have a set of 180 rear hubs sitting in my shed waiting for my brake upgrade, again can't see it happening this season so if you need you can have and replace when better suits you? and finally I have a set of Whiteline ARB bushes sitting here £10 if you want?

Ava think and let me know?

Russ!

Recently had a lot of thoughts of what I should do next regards all this.....all little bugs took a bit of motivation away, but that's a bloody scooby ownership I guess... bought a replacement rear hub as mine was damaged by an idiot when changing the bearing. I have changed it myself as its not a rocket science but having an issue adjusting the brake shoes as they rub a bit. Tried to tighten up and loosen to the max still making annoying sound. Also not sure if the bearing in It is good either as there's noise , but this can be re70s due to swap fronts to the back? Need Magsimus expertise on this one....

On the other hand I had a bit of luck also....I've got my own opinion on "cheap" stuff , but still give it a chance if it has been tried and tested. I got hold of a Japspeed FMIC (as i've found out tonight searching on different forums)from a mate of mine who sold the car before fitting it. It was used and will need some pipe tlc but the core looks ok, and for the sake of 50 quid , thats what ive paid ill go and have a little fettle with it. Jons thread inspired me to powdercoat them and ill be asking him for advice about fitting.
I also got genuine hks bov included in the price , lol.... Although im not a big fan of them things I do prefer the standart one, but we'll see....
All of this will have to wait a bit cause of the nature of my work....long long night shifts...

Speak to Maggy about the powder coating, his mate did a great price and I had a whole stack of bits done

Only thing I found about the japspeed kit is you need to take you time getting the pipework to fit how you like it and you will need to trim the bumper quite a bit - you will loose the fog lights but that leaves loads of space for a cold air feed and oil cooler

When you're ready mate, come round to me, or I'll come to you if I've got mine finished and back on the road
