Just done some reading and it appears that the Americans lost 11 B52's in a single week due to SAM's in Vietnam!!!!!!!!

I don't get all the 'saber rattling'.

They do realise that they will be completely destroyed within minutes don't they?

This is all talk. The US has not found evidence of any mulitary build up or troop movements. It's all a ploy to get the UN to lift sanctions and provide aid. Granted, it's worse rhetoric than seen before, but I think it's just the new boy trying to show off to his own people as much as the rest of the world.

Doesn't surprise me, things have moved on though, B52 carrys plenty of cruise missiles now, stand off role will be the function they have so wont be in harms way too much, fighters will be the biggest threat.

not sure how they think it will make the UN lift sanctions, if anything will make them put more in place.

Because it will force the UN to make some concessions on the agreement that NK will "stand down it troops" or agree not to re-start the nuclear reactors.

As had been said above, it's all about him trying to keep up the pretence of being a 'Strong Man' in front of his adoring people (instead of the ugly fat little ****** they no doubt secretly consider him to be).

The daft thing is, the silly little tin pot dictator had the chance to end the sixty years of isolation his dad and grandad imposed on the country and make himself genuinely popular with his people when he came to power by opening the country up to the world, but he's gone totally the wrong way for some reason.

Still, there are some cracking Kim Jong-un cartoons to be had by searching on Google Images. I particularly like those of the 'Can I eat this?' variety.

It is escalating rather quickly. Embassy trouble now...

Could do with China being on side.

Looks like the Ruskies are getting pissed off with NK.

I started a thread on PH, which has some knowledgeable contributors adding to it, and some interesting views.
(PH is down at the moment though)

There have been at least 2 assassination attempts on the fat boy since he took power and by his own conraids. Kim Jung un is just trying to prove to his people and the rest of the world he is a powerful man and strong leader. He will stop short of an actual attack because he knows he will loose which defeats the whole object of his posturing.
While we have to take the threats seriously we are all really laughing behind his back.
