Tiggs,
that's too much knowledge, not to be a Star Wars geek
John
Edited to add that I'm off to see it tomorrow, so soon see just how good (or bad) it is.

Bombjack its pretty obvious that the Senator is Darth Sidious when you first lay eyes on him and then he starts telling Ani how strong he will become etc etc.
Plus as already mentioned, if you check the credits the same person plays both characters. But if you want us to take your money......
Simon.

Ms Portman was looking more stunning than usual - especially when she started showing some flesh

I found the first half of the film pretty dull but the second half was good but overall its the worst of the 5 films so far, even Phantom menace was better.
The plot was pretty good though and you can see where its all going.
The love story bit was a bit pants and layed on too thickly.

Saw it last night. The film is Ok and worth watching if you are a Star Wars fan.
Personally I'd pay £5 just to see Natalie Portman.....the woman is stunning!!
One thing that realy disapointed me was Yoda. All the years I've admired him as the Jedi master and the blokes pulling an insurance scam!!

Palpatine is Sidious. Phantom menace is how Sidious/Palpatine gains the top office. Clones is about how he gets dictatorial powers to rule the senate and the next one will be about how Palpatine takes total control and completes Anakins turn to the dark side.
The fact that the clone army that are obviously storm troopers gives it away as well.
Also if your wondering how Luke got from a jedi trainee to a nigh on jedi between 5 & 6 there is a book that fills in that gap and explains the run in with the bounty hunter that Han has.

I thought Luke was never that great a Jedi anyway as he never fully completed his training and didnt even start/know about Jedi until he met Obi Wan unlike Anakin who was picked up at a very early age.
The bounty hunter is in Episode V - Bobba Fett is hired by Vader to track Luke and gets Han Solo for the bounty reward offered by Jabba - or is there more to the story?

Ok geek mode!
P1Fan - Long before Vader hires the bounty hunters to find the Falcon, Jabba has a bounty out on Han for dumping some illegal spice a while back, hence why Boba Fett takes Han to Jabba. The same bounty is why in Episode 4 Han needs the money he gets for running Luke and Obi-Wan to Alderaan, he needs the money to pay off Jabba for the spice he dumped.
Tiggs - You dont see much if anything off Sidious's face in Phantom Menance, you do see a lot of it in Return of the Jedi, and its hagard then. Its an effect of the dark side of the force, it eats away at him.

ahhh- so in P Menace he has the old robes hidden in his locker somewhere!
so if hes an ancient sith blokey i assume he has already got the hang of possesing other bodies hence why he looks young as the bloke in PM? or am i getting ahead of myself?
talking of consistencey- is there a female Hutt in phantom menace- i thought i spotted one with jabba at the pod race- which would be odd as they are asexual arent they?

If I remember right he actually clones himself and transfer himself over to the clone body by using the force. Also regarding why he looks so youngs, I think its something like 20 years between eps 3&4. Hence why hes old and hagard in ROTJ.
Ooooooooh good one your pushing me now. Hutts change sex. They change 'sex' so to speak to have children.
**** i'm a geek!

"The Hutts are a hodgepodge of evolutionary traits. Like annelids, they are hermaphroditic, containing both male and female sex organs. Hutts are generally considered male unless they are pregnant, at which point they are referred to as female."

Okay, I admit I seen it, and I 'spose I kinda enjoyed it.
Just got the impression that Mr. Lucas suddenly remembered he only had one more film to tie everything together, way too many subplots for my liking...my head hurts now

To answer some of hte questions:
Darth Siddious is palpatine is the Emperor - hence the relationship with Anakin
The Bounty Hunter Jango/Jenga Fett has a son named Boba who is the Bounty Hunter that hunts down Han Solo
There is a gap of over a year between A New Hope and Empire Strikes Back (the book that covers it in part is Splinter in the Minds Eye by Alan Dean Foster (written yonks ago) who wrote Aliens.
Also, watch for the interaction between Owen Lars and Anakin Skywalker and then watch what Owen Lars says to Luke in A New Hope.
Finally, one question - would Obi-Wan Kenobi REALLY have hidden Luke from his father (Anakin) on his father's home planet?!?! Where he knew his mother's stepson still lived? I think not.
