Well then from a safety point of view, I take it you'd be in favor of a complete ban of alcoholic and tobacco products. The sides effects of these products are well documented and costs the nation far more.

NO, you are imagining it, it doesn't snow in GB, but if it does it only lasts half a day or so.

Doesn't matter as half the SN population are such good drivers they can make their cars defy the laws of physics on their summer tyres

Wish I was a driving God like them

No snow here, so no need for winter tyres, my three seasons tyres do me fine.

Suppose if you drive a Merc with the rear wheels spinning it helps to shell out a bit more cash on winter tyres to keep up with all the Fiesta's and Corsa's on their normal bog standard budget Marshalls.

Well, that last snow flurry last week saw me take the lad to school to find two cars into each other at the school gates, which happen to be at the bottom of a reasonably steep slope. I braked and slowed with no slip or ABS action, steered around them with ease and pulled up in a clear space as many others hadn't tried and thus there was actually spaces close to the school. On the way down the long gradual hill away from dropping him off there was one car struggling to get up, and another in someones garden I LOL'd

So you’re a pipe smoking flat capped drug dealer that fancies himself as a rally driver at the weekend, brag away.

You only need one of the other sex for you to be involved in their accident

Not bragging at all as they are all old sheds compared to some people's cars, but you were implying I'd be stupid enough to take the Merc out in the snow and ice. Only a selfish **** who doesn't give a crap about other road users would be dumb enough to take a RWD Merc or BMW out in those conditions on summer tyres!

I suppose I`m a bit biased towards winter tyres after owning a BMW for 4 years (many years ago) and getting stuck time after time on my hilly road and my steepish drive.......and now owning an M3 I got stuck the other week at the bottom of my hill and ended up virtually abandoning it. I had DSC on, tried pulling away in 2nd, everything

Now, I have a set of OEM 19`s and 4 Vredestein Wintrac Extremes on...and in all honesty I`ve actually noticed a big difference on roundabouts, just in the wet, cold conditions. I`ve tried to get the back end to step out (6.30am on a quiet road) and it just grips like ****. I`ve yet to try them on snow but I`m actually quite confident it won`t be an issue.

I know this is a discussion mainly about winters on Scoobs but RWD has been brought up so I thought I`d just throw my twopenneth in

I think the discussion is on winters generally and your views make interesting reading. I have found the same in the Volvo and I too am on Wintrac Extremes - the car turns in better on wet roundabouts in the cold temps.

BTW have you seen the video earlier in the thread of the M3 on winter tyres driving on the snow and being way more capable than FWD and AWD vehicles on summer tyres - a good watch

I have mate, I saw that on the M3 forum and a few others.....very impressive imo.

Mind you, what I spent on alloys and tyres, I could have bought a half decent front wheel drive car
