We have a King size Tempur and I really don't like it. I certainly don't wake up in the same position - I spend the whole night shifting about. Incredibly hot in the summer / most of the year as you're basically just sleeping on a slab of plastic - wife loves it, however, as she's always cold.

As Lord Harding says, a good pocket sprung mattress with a topper is far more comfortable.

This is demonstrated by the fact you never find tempur or the like mattresses in any high end hotel - it's always good quality pocket sprung.

When I met my ex she had a memory foam topper (apparently an expensive on at that) but after a month of sleeping in the bed I had to get her to take it off because I would wake up every morning soaked in sweat!!

As for the hotel comment, that's true. THE most comfortable beds I've ever stopped in have to be Premier Inn beds!! I want one!!!

Thats because your body is so used to your bed , when its moved out of position by a new bed you either get

A great nights sleep, or a lousy nights sleep.

When we got our waterbed, the first few nights we had backache,

Not because the bed was wrong, but where our backs were moving back to where they should be, and not being in the potentialy wrong position.

3 weeks in, and its bliss,

Mart

Don't agree with that. I spend 60- 80 days a year travelling internationally with often up to a week in each location, so i get plenty of time for my body to get used to a new mattress, and I'm lucky that my company pays for high end hotels (4- 5 star business hotels) so am still yet to find a Tempur/ memory foam or water bed at any of these top hotels.

Still prefer good pocket springs and I would gladly replace the tempur, but I'm being nice to mrs FB!
