Cosworth CS400

I keep telling myself that I'll have a crack myself one day, when time allows. I'll most likely keep telling myself rather than putting it into practice but having seen the revolution car sacrifice 10-12 seconds because of unfavourable conditions and still posting its time running the low power map I am even more convinced a Cosworth could put a quick lap in.
The question is though John, what would your new steed be capable of? That thing's a monster!

Haha mine would do a fast time for sure, however I'd be there with more spares than a rally team, more mechanics and mappers than red bull racing and a transporter to get it there.
You could set off with a full tank of fuel drive there do a quick lap and drive home in time for a good old Sunday roast !

Ian Grieve in falkirk has a silver CS400 with 15000 miles.
http://www.autotrader.co.uk/used-car...01307167838227
and according to this AF Noble in Penicuik has a CS400 with 3500 miles.

Why people are selling up is a bit beyond me unless they are worried about warranty??

No not at all, mine is a 2012 model with under 7000 miles, still has 18 months warranty remaining extendable for a further 24 months, which means it has another 3 1/2 years available of full as new warranty. Mine is for sale as I have had 2 houses for sale for too long and as they aren't selling something else has too.Its this or the motorhome but such is life. I am changing agents on both properties this week and dropping the prices ....fingers crossed.....

Yeah just extend it if needed.
Maybe I'm missing the point here, but a fully forged 2.5 with a reinforced gearbox and clutch should be pretty sound mechanically.
Well I bloody hope so anyway, I plan on keeping this one for a while

But what i was asking is why are people selling up?? I would have thought that being a specialist car it would be held onto for a long time. I guess general recession may be to blame (as per your case) or perhaps people buying on 3 year plans with future value and having to give the car back.
If it was me i would be holding on for as long as i could

So you are saying you have a 2012 registered Cosworth CS400??? must be one of the last registered.

Most of the Cosworths were registered in late 2010 to late 2011 e.g. 60 to 11. It's difficult to say how many are here as I've heard different things from different places - but a few went abroad, apparently as far as Australia and Japan, a few around Europe and a few into private collections and as such are declared off-road.
I am under the impression that a few of the last cars were registered on 61 plates into 2012 with a few registered throughout February. A very small number of cars that include mine were registered on the last two days, mine being on the 29th.
Apparently one was registered a few days after and is the only one to sit on a 12 plate.
Yeah I'm sure many of us have been victims of the recession - if you read the for sale section on here you don't necessarily have to have forked out for a Cosworth to have to sell up - but a lot of people are also keen to chase the mega power outputs available for £35k these days. I reckon a lot of these cars are being chopped in against R35s and high-power German saloons.
More fool them, there's not much out there that'll keep up with one of these on a straight let alone down an A/B road. Or be anywhere near as enjoyable to drive...

Me too Beastie this car is mine and it's remaining mine. If I buy another Impreza it'll be going in the garage alongside it!

Mine was registered on the 31st January 2012 and is on a 61 plate. BL61GKZ.

I am also selling mine :-( . The birth of my new daughter takes my family count to 8! So a new house purchase forces a very reluctant sale. Mine was also Registered in January (I a was told there where 7 altogether by the dealer), but mine still has 21 months warranty and ETCo package to pass on to the new owner, as I had it extended from the date I bought it, not the time it was registered. Wouldn't get rid of her if I didn't have to (the car the is). If I sell the wife's discovery between now and the house purchase, I might not have to.

These are niche cars most of those who wanted them now have them, those that don't are waiting for them to fall to a certain price.
With Subaru's standing in the UK at the moment I would not imagine many people would pay top dollar for one of their cars.
Have you sold the R205 yet Imy?

Certainly not me,an r205 interests me not.Although I put mine up for sale it was a very loose spur of the moment decision upon which I have reflected much and realized it would be a much regretted thing to do.
On another note ,today I called in my dealers as I was working local to see if their was any news on my shocks...coming in next week hurrah.
Of all the strange coincidences at the desk was another red cs400 owner booking in his car for shockers too. He had driven 27000 miles on his and apparently they are destroyed,I went to look at his car...what a fekking dog fair play,it was in a shocking state ...I cannot believe what I saw...its supposed to look like mine . some people....

Very keen to try it out - I find the ride pretty harsh for longer trips so would like to be able to make some custom adjustments - of course doing so from an ipad would be so cool but its still not available - have offered mine as a test bed for it!!!!

It's absolutely horrid.
I can't believe they butchered a Cosworth to do that and actually thought it looked good enough to stick with and put on their forecourt.

I know that P-02 owned by someone in the Isle of Man who bought it a year ago. It was used as the press car and was the one that was used at the Pageant of Power in 2010 by Mark Higgins.
The field was quite competitive and there were some nice cars there...

The P-01 and P-02 cars were built to production model standard and specification in terms of the block and turbo etc. They differed to the original prototype specification.
I know a bit about P-02 and its history so anyone interested can PM me.
The first and original prototype was built by someone on behalf of Cosworth - I won't break a promise of confidentiality by saying anymore - but was stripped to a shell. It was snapped up by someone at Cosworth who rebuilt it to a specification similar to the original prototype model with his own twist, it was featured recently in JPC.

Well finally had my front struts changed today, the new ones have covers fitted over the shocker steel bar. The difference on the drive home was quite improved to the drive there. Plus its nice not to have the knocking.
