I had autogrip Chinese plastic tyres which on my 200bhp fto
Were awful. I have Yokohama parada2 on my scooby and they grip really well!
I wander why winter/ summer tyres have all but disappeared.

 

Which are 'mid-range' brands and which are 'premium'?

Lol ive come across 'wanli' before, can remember what on!

First thing I did when I got the scoob was get decent tyres on it. I'd had Goodyear eagle F1s on my mr2 and when I went to the tyre place I use he said they wouldn't last 5minutes on a scoob. He suggested i go with Bridgestone turanza ER300 so thats what I did.
Even on non-performance cars I've used 'mid-range' (falkens I think).

I can't understand people buying sports/performance vehicles then shoving budget tyres on it. Those 4 bits of rubber are sticking you and 200+bhp to the road!

 

Mine is not a performance car tho-its a 1.8 petrol focus, does seem tho the general opinion is that the rating system is flawed and fairly well useless.
I shouldn't be surprised as it has come out of European politicians heads

To think I've seen Porsche 911s fitted with these tyres.

 

I ended up going back to the place I purchase them from, explained the problem and took the owner for a small drive (I know him).
They had about 1K on them, we agreed a deal and I got different tyres.
He stopped selling the ZZ3's to Impreza's, EVO's and BMW's after that.
