Samsung Galaxy S3
Have you actually held a real nexus 4 and not a shop demo? they are anything but flimsy. I got one a few weeks back, and an apple iphone 5 fanboy commented on the build quality saying how nicely weighted and how solid it feels. I agree on the Samsung plasticky feel, always preferred the htc build quality in the past
I don't get these plasticky feel comments, most people will have their phones in a case anyway so you won't see the back or sides and the screen will have a screen protector on.
I agree that the back door is a bit on the thin side but that doesn't bother me as my phone is in a case, it would be daft to overlook the quickest smart phone out there at the min just because the back door isn't as thick as some of the others.

I have had an S3 for several weeks on a trial basis to replace my iPhone 4 and, at the moment, I'm not convinced I won't get an i5.
Good points are that it takes micro SD cards, replaceable batteries, some nice functions and a very good screen
Not so good points are it is too big (and, no, I do not want a mini) to use in one hand, too slippery (even the add on case is slippery), battery life doesn’t seem any better than my 2+ year old i4 and, probably the deal breaker, the apps are cr4p compared with the iPhone.
Eg Just before Xmas I bought a couple of Marantz MCR603 which are networked CD Receivers with AirPlay. Download the Marantz app on the iPhone and your virtually get full control over each unit. Download the very “same” app on the S3 and you get no control at all because it isn’t supported! Other apps are available but control seems to be random although I have just setup AllShare to see how it compares with AirPlay which just seemed to work without effort.
To be fair, I am still learning and will probably continue for a few weeks more but my overriding feeling is that the iPhone has a much better user interface – I can’t believe I’m saying this because I’m not an Apple fan owing to their controlling nature but, unfortunately, it’s true. It’s just that 16GB is not enough and I would need to get one of the larger models at a significant cost not to mention the change of connectivity so all my cables, etc will effectively need replacing.

Had my HTC One X+ for a couple of days now and can't put it down.
It is super quick at everything, has some nifty features (especially the machine gun style camera function) and feels like a quality piece of kit. And the main thing that I love - It can actually make and receive calls without issue. Seems odd to mention this but certain 'fruity' smart phones are poor in this area.
No experience of this myself, but just what work colleagues tell me.
My only gripe is HTC and O2 teaming up to save the planet.
It came in what I can only describe as an egg carton and no charger.
Just waiting for my damn case and screen protector to arrive!
Battery life seems ok. Will get a day out of it easy, with around 30% left before I go to bed.
And did I say that is was quick?
It's faster than my bloody laptop at web browsing!

It just seems very stupid as you say, to supply a 'Flag-Ship' model, effectively, incomplete.

And the box is just laughable!

My mrs has just received an S3, so we will see how it stacks up against my HTC One X+. I know both phones are out of date now, but if we always waited for the next new phone to arrive, we would never actually buy one!
(My HTC One X+ has been faultless by the way and easily last 2 days now with average use).

Nope:

Surprised me as well, but I couldn't be arsed to argue.

Here is an easy way to speed up the galaxy S3 if you havn't already done it, the phone is lightening fast as it is but this make most things virtually instant.
1. Settings
2. Developer options (Down near the bottom, enable it at the top first)
3. Under Drawing, scroll down to Window animation scale and Transition Animation scale, change both of those to 0.5x or turn it off for instant reactions.
Thats it!

Root root root, then you can use a Rom with more efficient kernels, or cpu clock speed adjustment. My one X easily lasts 2 days D

This is disturbing. I told you I don't do bumsex you *******.
