She weighed in at 840Kg, with a weight distribution of 63:37 (Front:Rear)
With two passengers this improves to 57:43. Not bad at all.

BHP is estimated at 290 (FMI, Unrestricted exhaust, Scoobyecu Daughterboard) The standard car is 260, and from reading around the forums, the chip normally adds 30bhp.

This gives a figure of 345 BHP/Ton.

It's the first proper outing for the Subaru one so gently does it, the Audi buggy however we already are familiar with, so she gets opened out...

These two were dragged out to the top end of third side by side, with almost no difference between them.

It's just less than 6 1/2 ft. Everything is quite compact to make that all fit together, it would be difficult to make it any shorter. We removed the smaller propshaft from the drivetrain and that took ~2ft off her compared to the standard car.

 

This is amazing top work!!

Definitely would be my choice for a track car instead of a Caterham or an Ariel Atom, maybe not for a daily driver though!

We were toying with the idea of making one to sell, I wonder is there a market for this?
The best thing about it is, that you have access to all the engine/gearbox/brake upgrades that any normal Subaru takes. So instead of the 290 or so bhp we have, your own 350 or 400 bhp engine can be dropped in to give a power to weight ratio of 416 or 476 respectively.

We can make this buggy frame lighter, so the next one will have a weight saving of around 30Kg, depending on the design and materials used.

Just an idea!

Is it even legal to have that much fun the audi could do with a limited slip diff but iam jealous so probably being picky

Stefen1 How did you sort circulating coolant to the rear of the vehicle? Di you have secondary electric pump or did you just leave it the std engine driven pump??

What did you do with the heater matrix pipes?? Blanked them off??

Yes, the Audi buggy could do with a LSD, it's been welded since that track day, so lets see how much more mental it is now!

Radiator at rear - The standard pump is used, the most important thing is to make sure she is bled and stays that way. With the coolant pipes going through the centre down low careful attention needs paid to this. There are also two bleed points on the pipes where they go over the front left driveshaft. There is a third bleed port on the coolant pipe for the turbo.

Yes, the heater matrix pipes are blanked off.

She stays cool with the big radiator at the rear, and lots of air flow around the engine helps. The only time I seen a little rise in temperature was not on the track at all, rather she was off road and was doing a long drift around in a circle (about 80M in diameter) for several minutes in third gear. Any Subaru would have behaved the same!

 

Recent video of some scorching around a field. Cameraman was getting blasted in the face with dirt, hence the camera was all over the place at one stage. Enjoy.
