Does that flight radar only show certain airlines? I was trying to track a flybe one last night that my kids were on and it didn't show up

Some planes don't have the ADS-B transponder equipment.....

http://www.flightradar24.com/how-it-works

Flybe Dash 8 planes are not trackable.

We sometimes get a Russian freight plane coming over us on its way to EMA - i guess we're about 4-5 miles away as the crow flies, and when that hulk comes over so slowly it looks like its stopped mid-air!

See post #17 in this thread for a video.

It's an oddity, the bigger the plane, the slower it seems to fly.

Maybe he had a problem with the cabing conditioning and was burning off fuel to get down to landing weight.

like i said a few times, its most likely there was a warning indicator lamp illuminated in the flight deck - and the crew has to follow a pre-designated protocol if such a light is illuminated.

Have a look on plane mad forum

manchester airport section,
it mentions air-con on their somewhere,

I work in airfreight and used to be a plane spotter yeara ago, if something flies overhead i still get the plane finder app out on the iphone, its fascinating to see where the a/c has been in the last week or two, some do 3-4 return trips aday
