KS3 are great but the power/signal wire connections could of been better thought out. Would be a lot better if they connected into the rear of the unit then is the side.
Having them fitted in the side makes discrete fitting near impossible.

Mine is mounted in front of the gear lever using a bent piece of ally as a foot/bracket and some double sided trim tape. Wires then run under the ashtray.

Never driven a classic with DCCD but my Hawk STi used to clunk and groan when tight manoeuvring, especially after a bit of a run, then trying to parallel park afterwards.

Yes Scott it's a pity the sockets are not fitted in the rear of the unit as they are so visible, it's lucky the cable plugs are 45 degree shaped so at least you don't have to bend the wires around. My plan is to dump the ash tray itself and as in the picture mount the unit in front, I need to find a piece of thin plastic to cut and make a panel then I'll drill a hole for the cables to go through and mount that behind the unit.

I had clunking on my new age as well I know what your saying it took a bit if getting used to to ignore it.

The old knock link was a right ugly thing; I was lucky enough to have the LED's extended and custom fitted into the instrument cowling.

At least this knock is a lot easier on the eye than that old box.

Stumbled across this on gumtree - ideal if you require a spare.

Good find... You see them about now and then, I'm pleased I found the white faced one's or should I say they found me... I don't think I would have gone for black faced.

Only a small update today but a stroke of luck led me to find a computer disc box that was made from a slightly flexible black plastic with a textured finish to it and it's perfect for the blanking plate behind the KS-3 so using some card as a template early I'm nearly ready to fine tune the plastic into shape with a slot to feed the wires into.

Will do I just need some dry weather as I'm trying not to use it until then, no point in getting it covered just yet. No more progress I'm afraid this winter has stopped me dead lucky to many I know.

At last a dry warmish day so I could get out and do a little more.
A friend of mine came around to help with the wiring as it's all spaghetti to me !

First off dropped the rear speakers in, I have to re do the bolts as the dome heads I have are not long enough.

Here's the small amp...

Then fixed the speakers in...

Fitted the Lamco's in as well, initially dropped the senders in the footwell as getting them under the bonnet will be a job for another day, my mates great with electrics so I did as much as I could then he helped out, now I have a few more things to do and he will come back to help me finish off.

One of the bulbs has blown so I need to get another ready for next time.

Also fitted the boost gauge....

I think they look great in white, clean and fresh in the cabin.

Cheers guys.... Yes the ks3 looks like a nice bit of kit, I have a new screen cover for it which I will do at the end so if you pick a second hand one up give them a call, it was free to I am a big believer in a few gauges especially on an older car to help monitor what's going on.

Not at all Ian, OE not sure in colour respects but there are both black and white faces available.... Would they have been an optional extra back in the day maybe face colour was left to personal choice back then ?

When are you going to take your new work colleague out for a spin in it?

Just noticed something in this pic;

The centre hanger for the rear backrest. On my car it was bolted in, yours appears to be welded in place.

I unbolted the one on mine and threw it out.

Also, I'd need to check tomorrow. I'm 99% certain that mine doesn't have the sound deadening stuff on the parcel shelf.

So much for a lightweight version.

The centre one is bolted on Micky you just can't see it from from angle of the picture.

Should take clearer photo's then....

I forgot to check the parcel shelf on mine. It's not like I have to remove anything to check either.

Small update at last, interior back together amp now running and sounds great.
KS-3 stripped down cleaned and a new face fitted.
Oil temp and pressure along with KS-3 still need to be connected but now all the cables are under the bonnet ready.

I've been sidetrack initially with weather and then work but now all has settled back down so I'm going to get a few more jobs finished.
