You need an MSA licence, Non race national B is a minimum which costs about £40, your car then needs to have tow straps front and rear, minimum 4 point harness, and a 2 litre hand held fire extinguisher. You will then need approved helmet, boots, gloves and race suit. If you look at the rules for competing in Time Attack Club Class there is a spread sheet which lists the requirements. Once you pass that lot you can run in Time Attack and most MSA events in a certain class

If I get a free weekend I will more than likely nip up for another play, also wanting to enter a race with the European saloons....? what ever its called, looks great fun

It's wierd as last time your missus had a say she wasn't too happy with your approved helmet

So been at it all week again, I just hope you guys can see and appreciate all the hard work thats gone in to it, plan is to have the cage finished by Sunday, engine dropped out, arches being tubbed and then its nearly ready for painting, I think were still on schedule?? cant see in the pictures but the new rear brembo grooved discs arrived from Alan @ AS Motorsports hope these help add a bit more bite at the back and stop the car from nose diving as much

Just a quick update, the cage is now mostly finished, few more bars from the front through the bulk head to the strut towers and another bar in the rear and its done, hoping tomorrow night it will be finished. Plan is to have it painted by Saturday so the engine and gearbox can be fitted and then the new wheels can be fitted too. My new tyres have arrived, I have gone for a set of Dunlop DZ03G from HP Tyres, great guys to deal with for Dunlops

I have spoken with Daren at ABW tonight and the new body kit is being delivered on Tuesday, so hopefully will have a few more parts fitted to the car before Tuesday, then the concentration will be on fitting the new body kit, fronr glass wind screen and the plastic windows.

Here is a link to the build that Shaun updates daily > www.facebook.com/rollcages

Cheers,
Lee

No worries mate, I will help were I can. to date the work stripping the car, installing the cage, modding the shell, installing the ABW body kit and painting it has been done Shaun @ SW Motorsports

The car will be finished at SW Motorsports by Monday and then it is off to Steven Darleys (SD Motorsport) place for the second half of the build, its in good hands

your right bud, it sounded a good idea when first suggested, but half way through having to wrap the cage so the inside could be sprayed I was starting to think "who's idea was this"!!! it was a lot of work, but the results were worth it.

The car is now having the rest of the work completed by Steven Darley and the team, at SD Motorsports... its in good hands!!

Cant wait for the final weigh in to see how much the weight loss has been, but also to see if all of the ideas are actually going to work together??

First test is booked for Cadwell 28th March....fingers crossed

ISo a long needed up date, I have copied a write up i did on another forum explaining how the day went, also a few pictures that i found on another forum

Cheers for watching out for us lot today........ specially Andy Forrest, thanks for the support dude, it was a funny day for damage, 1st session kicked off in warm up and was stopped in a few minutes after someone destroyed there car in warm up!!!

So....

Arrived at Cadwell on the Sunday and Steven Darley of SD Motorsports had brought my car to the circuit, Steven had the car unloaded and found us a cracking place in the paddock. So I got out and had a good luck around the car, the work carried out at SD Motorsports is exceptional, the car arrived at SDM in mid February as a painted shell and body panels painted, the car then needed to go back to the shell and be built from the ground up, all new wiring, braking system, fuel system the lot. There was extra work carried out in the build to assist with the weight reduction programme and also make it a truly focussed track car........ what a great car they have built for me

1st session > noticed high water temps and car went in to limp mode so came straight back in, thankfully it was just something simple, the water stat? stuck so the engine water was very hot because it was not circulating, once back in the pits Steven & Paul Martin worked there magic and it was fixed in 10 minutes the 1 sighting lap I did reminded me that the car is a lot faster than the Shogun, I was truely cacking myself when on cal1 with the throttle at 50%, and I am not kidding, doubts started to creep in!!

2nd session > went for a tootle just doing a few laps so Steven/Andy could check all was ok after the work carried out this winter, all was ok so went back out and did a couple of laps starting to try a bit, I think this was now on cal2, after 2 laps I noticed the engine noise changed, seemed lumpy, think it was a coil pack come loose, after about 15 seconds in the pits this was fixed, Steven checked the new rear discs and decided that the brake bias needed adjusting, quick change and off out again, this time I just did a few sighting laps to familiarise myself with the car, track and tried to get back in to thinking about going quick?

3rd session> cal2 again, this time I tried to start plying with a bit more effort, the extra speed and cornering efforts then had the rear wheels just starting to rub on the arches, car filled with smoke.....pannick!!! came back in, quick check realised what it was, again played with the brake bias and out again, few laps just playing again.

4th session > final > cal 4 I do like this setting, really helps with the concentration!!! just pulling out of pit lane when they released everyone, I was 2nd in line and the car died, quickly flicked the switch that powers everything up and it came alive again? ignored it and concentrated on leaving a clear gap for myself from the chap in front, I left what I thought was about a 5 seconds gap thinking this would be enough? flay out on the straight, first left in 5th, down to 4th for the double right hander and thought the car would drift over to the outside of the circuit like it use to, nope not at all I was running right on the inside line (car is awesome) so went wider and accelerated down the back straight, I can now see the chap who was in front in the distance, took the right in 3rd booted it in to 4th, took next turn in in 4th with partial throttle, once it was turning in I booted it and could see I was gaining on the other chap quickly!! through the chicane in 4th, down the hill in to 3rd and flat out towards the mountain where I was now right on the **** of the other chap, followed him over the mountain and I start to think he was slowing down? then after the cafe in to the squigley bits I could see he was on the edge? my car is steady as a rock and in cruise control, its ability to take the line you ask is shockingly good, million miles from where it use to be. Coming up to the last corner I am right on the **** of the other chap and decided to try and get a run on him to possibly pass him on the straight? as soon as I apexed and throttled on it just died, I stayed over to the right, turned the electrics off and back on again and then pressed the big green button to fire the engine, by this time I was rolling past the start line, gutted!! so back on the throttle over the hill and then it died again, this time there was no bringing her back to life, proper gutted. When I got back to the pits and showed Steven and Paul I could see they were gutted too, but **** happens, this is the first outting in the car, testing in public!!!

Although gutted about what happened my mind cannot help but think about the cars potential, it was stunning to drive, I could not moan about anything at all about the handling, the whole day was done on the same 888s I used all last year, I never bothered to use the new rubber, saving that for now, but it made no difference, the car was much better than me and was waiting for me to ask more from it, much more, so looking forward now to Snetterton, another chance to get back in it and start learning more about the car..

HUGE HUGE Thanks to Steven Darley and Paul Martin, there support this weekend was beyond the call of duty, thanks guys
