Since you brought it up, what's your solution? re open the coal mines?
They blamed Thatcher for the closures, but how many mines did Labour re open when they got back in? Er, none. You also have the Greens trying to keep them shut.
Alan, whilst I partially agree with you, (Labour did a lot of bleating about 18 years of Conservative misrule, Thatcher etc etc, yet had thirteen years of their own and put VERY LITTLE "right" if anything), reopening a closed deep mine is VERY tricky.

Even with modern technology, many of the closed mines will never reopen due to them now being unsafe.

They SHOULD have been mothballed..then the coal would have been available, but for the intrasigence of two people and the spite of one, they would have been.

My father came from a mining region, his own father worked in the mines, South Yorkshire.
yet my father hated the miners...because when he was doing 16 hour days on the airfield during the war for 2 bob a day, the miners went on strike not once but TWICE for more money.

Holding the country to ransom during the war? What a pathetic bunch.

The NCB still spend alot of time maintaining and securing coal sites.

To be honest the cost involved is in the pumping of the water out and some time in the near future I believe that mining will return to england as the costs involved will become worthwhile due to the cost of the commodity.

I am a mine explorer and spend alot of time in disused metalliferous mines down in the southwest, there is alot of work to be done, but it is not impossible to reopen these mine as seen at south crofty briefly and Hemerdon Bal, along with Redmoor that is looking more likely to be re opening

SOME can be reopened due to the geology.

The vast majority cannot.

Besides, the Glaswegians have already shown what they think of the BBC reporting and now complain they don't get enough of it.

Also on the last photo, I see no reporting on the fire outside the Herald building by the Herald or any other Scottish media, must be a media blackout, it's shocking!

Regarding the facebook link https://fbcdn-video-l-a.akamaihd.net...aa06277fbcf527, so what of the claims of two murders and death of a 15 year old girl as a result of the events in Glasgow not being reported, any evidence of this in other media outside of the BBC?

They lost.

Surely the phone call at 9am should have been more like

"Al", its Dave, "Right you lost, Now stop faffing around, dissolve the mob up there, and get yourself down to Westminster, We govern from there."
"Oh and the powers we promised, no way Jose, its the real world now"

You're probably not far off the mark with that one.

Both the BBC and the times reported about 100 from each side kicked off.

Please, stop. Your 'evidence' is almost as embarrassing as your desperation to reject to the result.

Pathetic, the example of a lady early hours of the morning making a little hiccup, it is nothing more, if she wanted to fix it then she could of just put yes votes on the no pile, why put yes on no and no on yes?

Then the yes votes on the no table, well it was the "yes" camp that was tweeting in with the reason but could be many a reasons why it was.

The guy righting on some votes (if they were votes), they could of been faulty votes and he was signing them off to say they have been checked.

Well who knows what they were shredding but it was there for a reason and secondly the paper looked new, not folded and a bit of a mess like a vote paper.

There was hundreds of people working hard through the night with the world watching them, of course the "yes" camp are going to find shìt to dig up, thats what they do.

5 million votes counted in under 8 hours

It would be amazing if no mistakes were made

Now THAT would be evidence of a conspiracy

Scotland is a nation divided not united thanks to Alex Salmond and his chums. All this has done is cause trouble when everyone got on fine.

I don't know but, whatever his intentions, yes voters are angry and people are arguing about something they hardly bothered about before.

Most are bothered about how he referendum was managed from the media bias to the alleged rigging of votes, apart from that they seem happy enough going by what I'm seeing and hearing, my money is on you being a No voter, Ya?

I know what you mean, from the second that Salmond choose the questions and decided the better together would have to use the word "NO" it was going to be difficult to put a positive spin on it for them. I also hear what you are saying about the media, not once can I remember them being positive about the "NO" vote, just serious about them the whole time, makes you wonder how the better together side came out on top.

The reality of life is some what less rosie than we would like and the "NO" camp was just too real, not enough fairy dust if you ask me.

True not the end, but still get over it and move on until the next one
