You have to admit that particular report was quite selective. Salmond's words were quite succinct. The subsequent report was anything but.

Maz, they do this sort of thing all the time yet people defend them as being this bastion of fair broadcasting. They are taking our money and using it to produce government propaganda basically!

Well, it served it's purpose and got a reaction, even if it was dumb. It was just a light hearted moment in a debate that has been quite heated, you can take it or leave it.

Yeah sure Maz, I saw it and it looked a bit fishy - probably not the BBC's finest moment and probably in retrospect shows the particular opinions of the journalist concerned

(nick Robinson was a member of the young conservative and unionist party)

But Maz - what's the narrative here

I can understand the spin from the papers and Westminster. However the integrity of the BBC must be beyond reproach as it's funded by you and me. The BBC shouldn't and cannot be seen to influence opinion over a matter like this.

but the BBC is not some mythical institution, its staffed by people, by humans, and we know they are fallible - and thank god for that

No ones perfect - The BBC represent the Establishment (not Left or Right btw)

what's the surprise that they should "default to the mean"

I am watching the BBC coverage at the moment and will do until about 4ish but as someone who thinks that we are better together I am actually feeling like I won't to be Scottish and vote yes

I just cant see anything other than fair, maybe its just me but I can feel the passion and buzz of the yes camp from here. On the flip side watching the no camp via the BBC is a bit embarrassing.

Iam sure someone will come along to tell me the BBC are this and that but for the moment at least (all be it after they have voted) I am seeing the yes camp in better light.

The BBC tells the country that he didn't answer the reporters question which he did ,

What the BBC do has a name , they have done it for decades , it is called propaganda.

I'm not defending the BBC and already agree that that particular report is a bit suspect, but in the grand scheme, it means little, everyone knows the BBC can show bias in their reporting, it's not like it is even a revelation to anyone or even the Scots. However, it still didn't stop those pro independence on here to post links from the BBC to support their arguments for independence!

More of a twisting of words and facts. However whichever way you look at it, it was very cynical and leaves you questioning the journalistic integrity of the BBC.

Sorry, but they are an organisation funded by a virtually compulsory form of taxation and I don't want my money being spent on propaganda (or covering up serial paedophlia come to that). Reporting the news is actually pretty f**king simple, you state the facts and leave it there. If they can't do that then they need to be disbanded or funded by commercial means.

I think twisting of facts is a form of lying

Well like I said, nick Robinson was a member of the young conservative and unionist party

Is it difficult to keep personal option out of reporting, fvck yes, on the whole do the BBC do a better job of this than 99.9% of the worlds media

Fvck yes

What's the narrative here - that In general the BBC would prefer a no, not really a surprise or a conspiracy, just what you would expect

Yes they do. That's why the BBC is/was respected all over the world. It's always been a bastion of integrity and honesty. That reputation shouldn't be sacrificed.

Well the answer is simple, don't watch the BBC, like you said, you've known it to be a propaganda machine for decades so why watch it if you want "facts"! There are plenty of other news channels to watch!

I really hope that the voting humans have voted correctly and the counting humans count correctly despite all that baggage collected for last 307 years.

Correctly means within their human capacity, of course. With pencil and with no separate colour coded boxes for YESes and Nos.

BBC has just broadcasted on the national telly that curry and drinks have been served to so many dedicated vote counting volunteers. Great! Hope they don't get too drunk or there could be a human error in counting.

"Correctly means within their human capacity" renders the first part of your post redundant

Over 80%! There's very little apathy over this vote.

I don't watch the BBC for exactly that reason

I don't believe anything I hear on mainstream media .

The truth is impossible to know ,

It wasn't the reporters opinion that bothered me , in fact I didn't notice what it was , it was his report on what happdened that I didn't like
